Pirate Translator 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Great, but would be better if ...

instead of a Widget, it was a Mail.app plugin. I would love to send all of my emails in Pirate Speak. [alert admin]

Well worth it.

I did some research and then decided to install Astraware. Not having compared it to any of the competition, I didn't really know what to expect, but it fulfilled what I had hoped. Very intuitive, nice interface, I don't feel that I need to try any others, I am happy. [alert admin]

Suitcase Fusion 12.0 (Mac OS X)

Needs Work - Stick with X1

Fusion constantly locks up my system when it encounters bad fonts. I have one customer in particular that always causes me problems. Same fonts worked on X1. My advice, stay away until there is a patch. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4.3 (Mac OS X)

OS X 10.4.3

Everything went smooth, don't notice any difference. (Then again I wasn't having any problems with 10.4.2.) [alert admin]

Extensis Suitcase 11.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Works OK

Suitcase could use some improvement, but it works. I don't know why all of the other people are having so many problems. I never use auto activation because I use the fonts the clients supplied, maybe auto activation is part of the problem. As for it taking 20 - 30 minutes to open a font!?! Never takes more than 5 seconds for me to open all fonts in a set. [alert admin]

Serv-U 6.1.0.1 (Windows NT, Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows ME, Windows XP, Windows 2000)

Works for me

I have been using Serv-U for just over a year now and I am quite happy. It fills the need for us; 5 customers sending us files on a daily or weekly basis and another 20 who send us files occasionally. Easy to get up and running. [alert admin]

Barely Worth It

I agree, should have been included with InDesign. Barely worth the $49 but I was given PM 6 files and its better/cheaper than shelling out $600 for PageMaker. [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 6.5 (Mac OS X)

Works Fine

I applied the update at home and no problems, nothing to get excited about either. Have already applied it to the PC and will do the Macs later today. I have never had any of the stability issues I hear a lot of people complaining about, I have been using Quark 6 since it came out and Quark 5 on OS X before that. [alert admin]

FontWizardXT 4.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Space

I have noticed that Quark blends will not RIP correctly unless space is set to "As Is". Otherwise, an excellent product. [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 6.1 (Mac OS X)

6.1 Update

I have never had any stability issues with Quark. I run Quark 6 on three different machines (one PC) and it has never crashed. Update worked fine on all three, no problems. [alert admin]

Needs Work - Stick with X1

Having used Fusion for about a month now, I have to switch back to X1. Fusion constantly locks up and crashes on certain customer's fonts. Might be a good program if you have control over your source fonts, but in my case it is unusable.

Ask and ye shall receive...

Considering that it took somewhere around 9 months for a version that was compatible with Palm OS 5.4!?! No, I am not "really" happy. What's going to happen when Windows Mobile 5 comes out???
