Microsoft Remote Desktop Connection 2.0b1 (Mac OS X)

Much Better!

Drastically improved performance and response on my MacBook Pro over a VPN connection. Great new features too! Hope it stays free after the beta. [alert admin]

iCamMaster 2.0b1 (Mac OS X)

Love this program!

Glad to see development is not dead, just slow! I bought it way back at version 1.8 and have spent many hours enjoying it's use. It's like a window to the world of cameras. It can be customized with any web camera found elsewhere too. Many different "Saved States" can be configured. I use it to check traffic cameras in my area. I use it to check on people too. Amazingly Jen is still at the top of the TopCams list and BathTub Girl has a baby! Don't wait for this to come out of beta soon though. 2.0a came out five years ago and the last revision to 2.0a9 was three years ago! It's got room for improvement but my old registration still works so I'm not complaining. [alert admin]

Apple AirPort Base Station Update 2007-001 (Mac OS X)

Product is Base Station [Utility] not Airport Extreme

To add to the confusion this update is "Apple AirPort Base Station Update - 2007-001" and not to be confused with "AirPort Extreme Update 2007-001" or "AirPort Extreme Update 2007-002" which were released earlier this year! [alert admin]

Apple AirPort Base Station Update 2007-001 (Mac OS X)

No problems if needed

If you bought one of the new 802.11n base stations it includes a CD installer for "Airport Utility" that works on Intel and other Macs and PCs as the only way to configure the new 802.11n access points. Airport Utility can also configure Airport Extreme and Airport Express Base Stations but Airport Utility cannot configure Graphite or Snow models. The firmware included is not different for Airport Extreme Base Stations (5.7) or Airport Express (6.3). Only if you have the new utility installed will this update be necessary or available in Software Update. This update changes the old Airport Admin Utility's name to "AirPort Admin Utility for Graphite and Snow" and the version number changes from 4.2.3 to 4.2.5. The old utility will also still configure Extreme and Express Base Stations. The standalone installer requires a restart but the Software Update version does not. I would not recommend installing the standalone version unless you already have Airport Utility 5.0 installed, not to be confused with Airport Admin Utility! I like the new interface in Airport Utility and have found no problems with this update except the old utility is behaving like the new one in that base station admin passwords are not being stored properly in the keychain even though that check box is checked. VersionTracker Pro 4.1 (Mac OS X)

Forgets Skipped Versions

About once a month the many (about 25) items I had designated as "Skip Version" forgets my decision and resets so that all items are flagged as needed again. I have stopped selecting them and have given up with that option since it doesn't stick. [alert admin]

MacScan 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Nice idea

If there was a spyware threat this would be a good thing to have. If it detects trojans and keyloggers that would be nice to have. I ran a full scan with nothing found. Spyware definitions were over three months old and supposed to update automatically. On second launch the definitions were updated to the exact time they were checked. Very suspicious. Based on other reviews and my experience I can't recommend this product! [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)

BEWARE!

I've been using an MX 700 mouse on two different systems for a long time. Using Versiontracker Pro I stay up with all updates. This 1.6.2 update brought my 10.4.4 G4 system to a crawl, as well as not recognizing the MX 700 any more! I uninstalled 1.6.2, went back to version 1.5 (the only earlier one I had on hand) and everything is back to normal again. [alert admin]

Mactracker 4.0b1 (Mac OS X)

4 beta is OK

Continues to be a solid product with constant development.

MOST HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Still freeware too! Apple owes him for this service... No typos found and if there were it would still be 5 stars. [alert admin]

groundhog day

Software Update installs the updater in the Applications/Utilities folder and says it will launch it afterwards but it didn't for me. Find the program called "Built-In Keyboard Firmware Update" and launch that. Follow the instructions. No restart is required. If you run it a second time it will tell you the firmware is already up to date.

Before this update Airport Utility 5.0 was able to manage the Express fine so I don't know what's different with 5.1.

PowerPoint 2004 for Macintosh

You need to install version 11.3.0 before 11.3.2 and to confuse things more Versiontracker links point to the 11.2.5 update instead of 11.3.2! Go to the Developer's site and download from there The Office updater will see your PowerPoint and update that if necessary. If you run the 11.2.5 updater and are already at that version it will report nothing found to update.

RTFM

...and another way to uninstall from the included ReadMe file:

To remove the InterMapper Server software from your system, type:
sudo /usr/local/share/intermapper/Uninstaller.sh
After removing the software, you must manually remove the "InterMapper Settings" directory located at "/Library/Application Support/InterMapper Settings".
