Netscape X 9.0b3 (Mac OS X)
...back in 1994. I don't know why they bother to update anymore. [alert admin]

Duck 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This was an amazing app back in Classic. I haven't seen it in years. Thanks for finally porting it! [alert admin]

OSS 3D 2.01 (Mac OS X)
...this version is way less cool than the previous versions. It doesn't seem to work with any of my apps, and the "Daemon" doesn't even try to stay out of sight. Please try again. [alert admin]

Apple's 30th Anniversary Countdown 1.0 (Mac OS X)
How large and complicated does a countdown widget have to be? Say I want to calculate something. I fire up the Dashboard, and there's this giant 30 on my screen. It's too much. Couldn't this be a docklet, anyway? [alert admin]

Nice, though a bit over the top ![]()

The people who would download this widget and install it would probably not be disappointed; it's very simplistic, small and tidy. It can sit in the corner of the screen, or the dead center, and casually informs you of the end of President Bush's second term whenever you activate the dashboard. As far as politics goes, this widget is pretty partisan. I felt it went a little overboard when I turned it around, and got a handful of links to remind me that I'm more than a little upset with- well, you know. If you want to use this widget, please keep in mind that its presence may lead to moments of reflection that could interrupt your productivity. That said, this is a well-designed, free widget that you won't tire of for the next 1,085 days. [alert admin]

Google Earth 3.1.0527.0 (Mac OS X)
I'll have to agree with that other guy, the interface needs a lot of work. This app provides a lot of info to users, so screen real estate is valuable- if you use Apple's interface guidelines for a brushed metal interface, this app will be a lot cleaner and easier to use. And Apple's DVD Player will show you how to do an aqua directional controller right. :-P Apart from that, this app is amazing. Now who do I have to bribe to get higher res for my town? [alert admin]

Basilisk II 17 (Mac OS X)
As far as emulators go, this is a solid solution for running old Mac programs on later systems. Two problems really remain; sound support (which is supposedly the next goal of the programmer) and the ability to adjust monitor settings. -I assume that perfecting the interface comes last on the to-do list. UNO 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
This is a pretty good system, considering that it's free and doesn't rely on a theme-changing package. The Safari Bookmarks Bar is a little weird, with the white splotches, but that's an isolated case that isn't necessarily predictable from the developer's standpoint, so... five stars. [alert admin]

Frenesia 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Your game is great, and I agree with that other guy that it'd work beautifully with an eight-track pad. Personally, I like the relative turning system, but if you're going to implement that in a game, it would be preferable to allow the ship to fire at any angle- not just orthogonally or diagonally. The rest of the game is real nice, and deserves a few more stars than it currently has for that. It's small, simple, eye-catching, and has the potential to become addictive. Good work! [alert admin]

I agree with Adam9. This looks like a great utility, but could you integrate an actual cat-slapping experience in the next release, perhaps? ;-)

It's not like you paid for it, buster. And true, it's a Tetris clone, but that doesn't mean it lacks originality. It certainly lacks less originality than most other Tetris clones. *I* say that if Quinn didn't exist, the Mac platform would be missing out on a smooth and upbeat rendition of a classic game. If you can find a better Tetris clone, for the Mac, with this feature set, then a link to that alternative…
