Toast Titanium 8.0.1 (Mac OS X)

Toast Interface

I haven't used Toast for more than a week but am satisfied with the tools that are available. However, as this is a Mac version I think it's worth noting that the interactive interface is a bit cheezy. Kind of reminds me of Windows style design. I could go into a critique but thought I'd just throw in my 2 cents. [alert admin]

MassReplaceIt 2.9.1 (Mac OS X)

Pretty good

Its interface takes a bit of getting used to in that it's not the most intuitive application and uses unorthodox terminology (i.e., "Mask" instead of "Filter"), but it is a handy little tool. I did find one glitch, however, and that is that it doesn't know how to work with commas in filenames. At least, I couldn't get it to work. I don't know if there are any other characters that it can't handle, but I know commas don't work. So, I still had to go and make those edits, manually. Because of that, I give it a less than perfect score and can't recommend it as a solution for someone that is looking for it to work as expected. [alert admin]

iStat pro 3.3 (Mac OS X)

This is perfect for geeks

OK, I'm not officially a geek, but this little widget will turn me into one. I can honestly say that I rarely use the widget feature except for the occassional unit conversion. But now, I go in there often. Especially if the room's a little warm and I hear the fans turning, I'll go check out the temps. If I need to save a large movie project, I check which drive will temporarily accomodate the space. All sorts of cool gadgety stuff. [alert admin]

StartupSound.prefPane 1.1b1 (Mac OS X)

Works great but not perfect

I have Harmon Kardon Soundstick II's and still get a rather loud startup sound coming through the speakers on pref panel's next to lowest setting. I actually have to turn pref panel's volume all the way down or mute. A bit of a bummer as I would still like to hear even the slightest chime. [alert admin]

I want to like it... but its really no good at all

Why not just use PSPWare? It's rock solid, great interface, and thorough. Forget the frustration, just get PSPWare, I'm very glad I did.

Note from MTR Developer...

Like Ed T., I usually delete the DVD files after confirming my DVD back-up successfully burned. Please make the archive process files optional and visible. Thanks for the best utility of 2005!
