Reveal 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Very nice

This is very nice, but it would be even nicer if it could also read the shutter actuation count like some Windows utilities can (Photome, for instance). [alert admin]

Nice, but no support for Pentax PEF raw files

It looks nice, but it does not support Pentax PEF files. [alert admin]

FontParade 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Excellent, but has one flaw

This is an excellent utility. The one problem I had is that I typed in some text containing a few English words, plus three words set in Cyrillic, and diacritics for my working Latin-alphabet languages, German, Dutch, French, Italian, Spanish and Portuguese, hoping to be able to tell at a glance which fonts had these glyphs and which did not. UNFORTUNATELY, the application called on other fonts in the system to draw the missing glyphs, as if ALL the fonts had all these glyphs. This defeats the purpose of the printout for my ends. :-/ It would be wonderful if a new version would simply leave spaces where the missing glyphs are, or print underscore, hyphens, rectangles or whatever in their place. That way I could tell which fonts can be used for multi-language documents, or documents in Russian, etc. Please consider this option. I would guess it requires taking away the code that substitutes fonts for missing glyphs. THAN YOU for a WONDERFUL, POWERFUL utility! [alert admin]

Nisus Writer 6.5 (Mac OS 9)

I had originally…

switched to Nisus because of its multilingual capabilities, as I routinely work with eight or more languages in a single document. However, MS Word has more than caught up with Nisus in this respect. I use Tables a lot, and the way that Nisus handles tables is just inadequate. Today I took the sentimentally difficult step of uninstalling all traces of Nisus from my Mac; it was a little sad, but Ihave no doubt it was the right decision. Why Nisus has not addressed the Tables function is beyond my comprehension. Sorry, Nisus. [alert admin]

Folder Icon Maker 1.5.1 (Mac OS 9)

Have been using…

Folder Icon Maker for years. It works 100% of the time, with great results. It never crashes and does not conflict with anything. Wish all Mac software were as well written. It's amazing that this gem is freeware. [alert admin]

This is the…

worst in a succession of incredibly poorly programmed pieces of bloatware by this company. It's highly unstable and messes up your computer. By all means go back and download version G2 while still available at the site. I wouldn't use this company's products if there were an alternative to play Real Audio files. Even so, I may just chuck their product alltogether and do without the audio files. It's THAT bad. I wish I could give it a five turkey rating, rather than the one star. [alert admin]

Very nice - I erred

This utility does actually read the shutter actuation count. I just happened to look at some Pentax PEF raw files that apparently do not contain this information. My bad. :-/
