Apple Java for OS X 10.5 Update 1 1.6.0_05 (Mac OS X)
After I used Software Update to install this Java update on my MacBook (Late 2007), I noticed that as part of the installation a Developer folder had been created at the root level of my boot drive. There's not much in that folder (just a couple of aliases), but it surprised me that such an installation would create a Developer folder. Anyone else notice this? or wonder at its necessity? ZipQuickLook 0.2 (Mac OS X)
From the author's Web page: To install copy the file in the DMG into ~/Library/QuickLook (You may need to create the QuickLook directory). To try it out, browse to a folder in the Finder that has a zip file. Select the zip file and press the space bar. [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 4.8 (Mac OS X)
Using Safari 1.3 (v312) I can get to the page "Apple - iTunes - Download - Thank you," where it says "Your iTunes download will start automatically." But it doesn't start, even if I wait several minutes or back up and hit the page again. Just sits there on that page (which appears to be completely loaded) and never downloads anything. Hard to believe this is just a busy Apple server, given how many times that I've tried. Any suggestions? [alert admin]

Same here on my MacBook (Late 2007) with 4 GB RAM. Started from OS X 10.5.3, repaired permissions, Safe Booted to install combo updater, then another permissions repair after update is fully installed. No problems so far.

Not installing for me (10.5.1 and Safari on MacBook)
Not installing under OS X 10.5.1 using Safari 3.0.4 (5523.10.6) on my new MacBook. Like he says, Mike, please make it go again.

You can use PithHelmet 2.6.7 (http://culater.net/software.php/PithHelmet/PithHelmet.php) for Safari 2.0.4, which does an excellent job of blocking ads. However, I doubt this version of PithHelmet will work with the new beta of Safari, and suspect that the developer of PithHelmet, Mike Solomon, won't update until Safari 3 is out of beta.

I was having the same problem yesterday and earlier today. Then I saw that there was a newer version of Speed Download available, and as soon as I updated to SD 3.0.9, I was able to download iTunes 4.8 without trouble using Safari and Mac OS X 10.3.9. Looks like the problem was with Speed Download rather than Safari/Apple.

Well, learning that the download worked on Firefox, I tried MS Internet Explorer 5.2.3 (shudder), where the download worked fine. Strange.
