Adium X 0.53 (Mac OS X)
Wow.. just wow. This app is constantly improving, and has the best interface I've ever seen in a chat client. The amount of options available is amazing, and some of the features are now indispensable to me. The only problems with it are protocol-specific features (file transfer, audio/video chat, etc), but that's really not the fault of the authors. Blame the closed IM services for those, and I'm glad that the authors of Gaim have done so much already to reverse-engineer AIM and MSN. If you can live without file transfer (although it seems to work intermittently for AIM now) and AV chat, there is no better option than Adium. [alert admin]

I won't be using the Music Store, so can anyone comment on the supposedly "improved performance" for older iPods? [alert admin]

The Print Shop 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)
I've veen using this for awhile, and I have a few gripes with it. It's okay for simple cards and things, but occasionally it can be an incredibly frustrating app to work with. Take, for example, the halfassed iTunes integration. You'd think that most people would be using it to print out labels for their mix CDs, right? You'd also think that you'd want to know which artist plays each song on a mix CD, right? Well... you're out of luck. The developers took the time to let you import your playlists from iTunes, but you can't even include the artist names if there's more than one artist on the CD. Renders it pretty useless for labeling my burnt CDs, which is a big reason for why i bought it. Also, MacKiev's site is so useless and difficult to navigate... If I go to their site, I'm told that updaters are included with the application (I don't remember them being). I wouldn't have known that it was at 1.0.4 if someone hadn't posted the link to their updater on this review page. Of course, when I go to download it, there's not a single list of changes/fixes, and I have to supply personal information just to download it. Thanks MacKiev! [alert admin]

aMSN 0.90 (Mac OS X)
It seemed to work well, and the list of features it has is quite impressive. Still, I would really prefer a completely OS X native GUI; it's all that's keeping me from using this. [alert admin]

Poisoned 0.515 (Mac OS X)
I'm getting really tired of having to redo all my preferences every other time I download a new version of Poisoned... [alert admin]

JFC 1.20b4 (Mac OS X)
titles are useless for a tiny comment
Well, it seems kind of lacking... I don't like how I have to make my flash cards seperately in a text file, and the interface seems somewhat confusing. I've been beta testing iFlash, and the upcoming 2.0 version is a lot better than this for Japanese flash cards. [alert admin]

OmniWeb 5.0 beta 1 (Mac OS X)
I really love the implementation of tabs, and this browser feels more integrated with OS X than even Safari. Should be amazing once it's out of beta.. [alert admin]

Unison 1.0 (Mac OS X)
Hands-down the best newsreader for newbies like myself. I love how it organizes posts, files and pictures; it's a million times simpler than the other newsreaders for OSX that I've used. My only complaint is that it seems slightly buggy at the moment (hopefully that will change, and Panic won't abandon the app like Audion). Thoth handles multiple transfers without ease for me, whereas Unison keeps giving me errors if I download multiple files at the same time.. ah well, it's an amazing 1.0 release. I'll be buying as soon as I scrape up the cash. [alert admin]

Fallout 2 Survival Kit 1.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Useful little tool for the game, I'm amazed that it's still being developed. [alert admin]

No offense, but this isn't really meant for someone who complains about the software being too "Unixy".

CRPG that take you back to Apple ][ days
Definitely agreed. Spiderweb games may not look great, but Exile 3 is one of my favourite RPGs ever... which is no small task for a company that essentially only has one programmer. Graphics aren't all that matter to a game.

Nah, your drive is fine, but your Powerbook is just too slow. VLC isn't the fastest app around, but the amount of systems and codecs it supports is amazing.

I think you're very much mistaken. Wine implements the same calls that Windows does, which means that it's not emulating anything (WINE Is Not an Emulator); it's running applications, just like Windows does. Sometimes Wine is even faster than Windows, sometimes it's slower, but it's not at all what you're calling it.

Actually, iFlash 2 supports multiple card sides (I've been using it for kanji/furigana/english), but it's still not released yet.. Good to know that you're updating this though, it really shows promise.

The author has to keep track of the official SNES9X version number as well as the OS X port. The version numbers really aren't his fault.

The guy who ports SNES9X Custom has version numbers according to the official SNES9X version. Makes sense to me... and also, the SNES9X custom site is partially in English. There's enough English on the site to let you download it easily.
