ecto 2.4.2 (Mac OS X)
I'm sorry I plopped down my money for this one. I downloaded the trial but didn't have time to play with it so ended up buying to have the convenience. What a waste. As another reviewer pointed out, this SW manages to mangle HTML and is unable to manipulate photos from iPhoto. Basically, a waste of time and money. [alert admin]

FLVR 1.0 (Mac OS X)
My wife and I like to watch videos at our leisure. Yes, there are free ways to get videos off the net (check Activity Monitor, use iSquint... or Perian) but this is an easy solution to use through Safari. I just wish it had some option for renaming the files within the interface. For $15, it has saved me some hassle. [alert admin]

SuperDuper! 2.1.4 (Mac OS X)
Had a problem with SuperDuper! not working. Emailed the developer and he responded at all hours, even on a national holiday! In the end, we figured out the problem. Love the way the software works and the smart update. I like it better than CCC and feel secure knowing that ALL OF my data is safely backed up. Sorry for all the folks that have had problems getting SD! to run well. I'm not sure there's anything else I could want from the software. I see some users don't like the interface. Maybe it could be improved but I'm not sure how to make it better or more functional. [alert admin]

Just wanted audio for a few songs in my iPod (without the video). Worked perfectly, thank you! [alert admin]

Boomerang Data Recovery 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Very fast and easy to use. Support is very week. Contacted the developer before buying and he gave snippy condescending responses. Not a nice person to work with. Features are neutral. It has a Maclike interface. Stability is poor. On a working MBP 2.16GHZ 3GB RAM on a fresh restart Boomerang crashed. I have run Boomerang 6 times and it crashed just that once. If you can get something important back it would be worth the purchase price. Boomerang finds all sorts of files but I have never recovered anything useful. As an experiment today I threw a bunch of folders and files in the trash just to see how Boomerang would perform. It found half of the items I was looking for. Hopefully if I was ever in a real bind Boomerang would return some value in the investment. [alert admin]

Roxio Popcorn 1.0 (Mac OS X)
It's probably not a problem for most users, but the subtitles support needs a lot of fixing. I need to get rid of a lot of the promotional stuff on the disks so that I can quick skip to certain parts of movies in my HS/college language classes. Subtitles are almost universally screwy with Popcorn. DVD2One does the trick. Sorry it costs more, but with subtitles, it works well (and much faster than Popcorn). But hey, what can you expect from a version 1 release? [alert admin]

I myself thought: HOW DOES THIS SOFTWARE WORK? Then I realized that at the BEGINNING of the URL there is a little icon....
DRAG THE LITTLE ICON AT THE BEGINNING OF THE URL into the VideoBox window (where it says to drag the URL) and voilá! Has worked great for me... I wanted to dislike Videobox b/c it was so different from FLVR, but after using it extensively last night I found it's a really…

I had tried to get in touch with them a week or two ago via the website with no response. Then last night (Friday 11/2) I emailed TastyApps (in reply to the regsitration confirmation email from early summer 2007) and got a response this morning ALONG WITH a registration file for Videobox.
At first I didn't like the idea of a separate piece of software (I liked the way FLVR worked as a plug-in)....…

It's at least two people who have made less than 4-star comments (assuming that Ben Weinberg, Tom Jacobs, and dennis68 are the same person). It is as many as four people who have given thumbs-down. The mods can check IPs, that usually works for dealing with trolls. <br> In any case, I'm glad you got your data back! Good on ya!
