WebScripter IDE 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Can't get it running whatsoever ![]()

Trying the 15 days free trial version, but after the purchase nag-screen nothing seems to work when trying a new file, new project or new whatever. The only window which seems to open is the preferences. Though how nice it is to set my prefs of the app, I'd rather have no prefs and a running test app. As the version states, runs on 10.4 PPC, so it could be the fact I am on Leopard 10.5 why it is not running. Though it looks very interesting for the web develoment purposes I have, I can't try this. Might be a very usefull application, but as I can't try it out, a 1 star. [alert admin]

RapidoWrite 3.1 (Mac OS X)
Since RapidoWrite 3.0 I have been using this. A nice time-saver. Though since their 3.0.2 upgrades and 3.1 (by the way.. they just simply put a new number behind this one... nothing was upgraded compared to 3.0.2!!!... look for yourself when you do a "Show Package Contents") upgrade, things went from bad to worse. I have been writing to their support department and there you are treated as if you are an infant. Useless messages telling you that the application needs to be installed in Applications folder to function (their installer can't do otherwise!!!). They call their app fixed, you now only can use number abbreviations. Numbers are not abbreviations in my opinion. They are numbers. So how can they call that "fixed". They even told me to NOT use their default abbreviations. AAdate and such?? not working. So since 3.0.2 RapidoWrite has been rendered completely useless. With that said, my last support question on app4mac.com was simply erased. A pure sign the developers cannot stand critics. Critics in my opinion are never negative, it is to be able to find errors and fix problems. Obviously they feel different and they feel stepped on their toes. I call that childish support. Can't stand critics, then close your support section. Though "support" is a big word for them. They treat you as an infant and give you "solutions" that are not solutions. Too bad, app4mac looked like a promising company where I would have bought their commercial products, but now seeing their support on freeware products and how they talk down on you as if you are a newbie mac user (I am a 10 years mac user and troubleshooter for companies by the way) I am very disappointed in them. In short, bad support, and the bugs and errors they try to blame on you the user. Before I forget, they even tried to convince me the problems were only Tiger related, but as I know, I am running Leopard since day 1 it came out. But alas, must be my mistake ey... They're all cats... I have had my belly full of their crappy support and their nonsense solutions. I have written off app4mac totally. [alert admin]

Hi, Like the previous writer, same issue here. Worked with 3.0 perfectly. After 3.0.1 upgrade. Nothing, nada, niente. 24 hours ago I sent in a message to the developers. No replies yet. Hopefully they will fix this soon. My fingers are hurting now I have to type so much again ;) [alert admin]

Microsoft Messenger 6.0.2 (Mac OS X)
MSN Messenger for Mac is true malware in the true sense of the word. It is as bad as can be. A perfect example of M$ not putting efforts into R&D. Mac OS X would be a perfect platform to make a tremendous chat application as MSN work flawlessly. The only reason it doesn't is because the developers don't want that, or not allowed. Who can imagine a chat application without cam support. Name me one that has no cam support. [alert admin]

Billings 2.0 Beta (Mac OS X)
Great improvement, easy to make multi-lingual now! ![]()

This Beta release came as a surprise to me. Last 2 months I have been testing between 10-15 invoicing and billing applications. From Filemaker templates to even the immense Quicken and QuickBooks and all sizes of invoicing applications in between. Some had good working features but with 99.99% I stumbled on this little problem. Multi-lingual invoices. You can adapt you system language whatever you want, the invoice application stays English. Point me an invoicing app that is localized. I haven't found a single one. The last one I found that arose above all and yet such a small application was TaskTime4. Easy as 1, 2, 3 and 'localization' could be done by tweaking the preferences file (one Dutch and one English), but of-course that is not the way to go. Now for Billings 1.x versions, that wasn't it for me, I tried Billings (1.x) version. It was too poor, couldn't do what I needed. Now Billings 2 Beta. It has all I need. Simple invoices, simple reports and above all, the new Design part for Templates in Billings 2 makes it so easy to make a Dutch invoice template and an English one. Multi-lingual invoicing is now possible and a fact with Billings 2. As for the previous comment, I am in the support business myself and you sometimes get things asked you don't even know how to react on. I can imagine somethng like this really happening: Customer e-mail message: "Now I have installed Billings 1.x, when I put in an audio CD my Mac goes playing music suddenly..." I mean, you don't have to be a rocket-scientist to guess that Billings has nothing to do with that 'problem'. In short, people looking for an application that does allow you to make quick invoices (flat fee or by hour, and more...) ESPECIALLY the people that have to send out invoices in more than one language. Billings 2 is a must try! For sure a perfect example of a 5 star (*****) application. Symantec NAV/SAV virus def Oct 11 (Mac OS X)
Stop being your Windows' neighbour anti virus tester ![]()

So far there are still no virusses for Mac. yes laboratories have claimed to have them. And it is not that hard to make a double-clickable
rm -fr /and get that into an email. But a virus is something different than stupidly double-clicking everything you encounter.
So, Stop being your Windows' neighbour anti virus tester!
The only reason you want this, is when you own a company and want to be sure you don't forward (forwarding means: you received an infected email from a windoze user before!!!) an email message containing a virus.
Imaginable for companies to do so, but normal consumers using this just got grabbed by Mr. Symantec and the whole Windoze anti-virus mockup. Why don't you try and find Ad-Aware in a Mac version too!!! (P.S. yes a few 'phone-home URL's that some installed apps tend to have built-in in Mac is really going to strain an ADSL 8mb/1mb line. Spyware and 'phoning-home' for just a regular update checkup is something different) [alert admin]

A very easy to use and intuitive Bit Torrent application. I just love the search abilities (I have no clue if the search is proper or not; so far every search I did , I got results and got the downloads I was looking for).
The feel of the application is very Mac like. If you compare this to for instance Azureus, this feels so much better in stead of a bloated Java app.
As far as the costs of this application: It is (still) free and that is a good price. Of-course the developer puts in a lot of his time in fine-tuning this application and it is more than normal to charge for his invested time. I am just not sure if I want to pay for a utility that has many many free 'brothers and sisters' out there.
For now it is my favourite free Bit Torrent client.

2finder 1.3b (Mac OS X)
Perfect tool! I tend to do this manually all the time. This utility is a major time-saver for me. Does exactly what it says. Open 2 identical Finder windows in a row or column setup to easily drag and drop files. [alert admin]

tiggit 0.3 (Mac OS X)
I am in Europe myself. I have been trying this application for 15 minutes and all I see is that it is querying 1 website. Never seen results or anything. Perhaps only the maker knows how to get cheap flights from this. I am not succeeding in that with this application. NOT ONE RESULT CAME UP! Finally it finished querying but still it is a biiiig question what to do or where I can find the results from that querie... This application to me is one big mystery on how to use it. I do hope others have more luck on this. I will keep trying. [alert admin]

Not Tiger Only. Leopard too! And number abbreviations... naaahhhh. It works yes, but that's not a solution if they promote the app with easy abbreviations like AAweb. What now??? 0012?? Try and type phonenumbers see how often RapidoWrite comes up now...

Same here. Posted bug report. I get the answer... On all our machines it is fixed. Well obviously not... You know the weirdest is.. If you now go back to 3.0.1 and before... You can't get them running either!!!! So 3.0.2 messed up something that is permanent! Nice going.. Hint... Although their support is very good and they try.. it's freeware... you have to give the developers credit for that. But they won't make it a priority. I type…

Just received a reply from the support desk from App4Mac.com. The guys are very helpful and very fast! 2nd reply I received I was asked to try and make abbreviations with numbers only. That worked.

Hi there, Could it be the case that your own system 10.3.9 became a bit faulty? I have just checked install of the Amsterdam Screensaver on a system 10.3.9 and it installs perfectly. I also checked your latest reviews... and it is too obvious that 2 new screensavers, where 2 guys did their utmost best to make a nice working screensaver, do not work on your system. Before writing harmfull reviews on a product not working you'd better do…
