Eudora 6.2b5 (Mac OS X)
It does seem Eudora is getting a little long in the tooth. And the issue that only spammers send HTML mail is not entirely correct. I get my web stats send in html and I can barely read them. There is no real reason (ok, perhaps the one that Eudora would have to be completely re-written) not to support HTML mail. I have checked out the latest release of Thunderbird and it seems to be the logical replacement of Eudora. It fully integrates with the Eudora mail boxes, and chances are by next release with labels added I'll probably switch. If you haven't checked it out do so at Mozilla.org RE: Steve Riggins. Why are you so angry? Chill out, switch to de-cafe. Seriously.... [alert admin]

Echelon 1.1 (Mac OS X)
The best at what is what I wonder. None of the my DV cameras output in DiVX, or AVI, or mpeg for that matter. The content that I create comes in through Firewire as a .DV file. So my question is what is this software good for? Oh, I get it, taking other peoples copywritten content and converting it. But wait, isn't that wrong? I don't know of ANY commerical DVD, that states you can copy and convert it to whatever format you wish. So to state this beats Apple's Compressor is absurd. One is for compressing content authored in Final Cut, and one seems to be for converting clips that you find on p2p, or various web sites. For the record I downloaded this, looked it over, and trashed it since it offered me nothing. However, it has come to my attention that the developer see's fit to destroy personal data on users HD's. First by moving it to the /tmp directory then using Apple's Secure Delete feature to scramble the files. So nothing is recoverable. There are many reasons for pirating software. Some times people do it for the thrill of it. Sometimes however, it's for legitimate reasons. Businesses have buying cycles. At times people have used pirated serials to use a piece of software waiting for accounting to authorize the purchase of the software. I've seen it time and time again at major studios. In a way it's too bad that the developer removed the home directory destruction feature, as there are plenty of lawyers in this town on retainer that would love to get ahold of them, should that have happened to one of the production machines. And as far as what MactheRipper has stated, it was the web blog at Unsanity that exposed this little "trick." Hmm... Then Mactheripper goes on to state he is putting his reputation on the line. However, Mactheripper also states "Unsanity APE is EVIL!!!! You wouldn't happen to have some Unsanity APE hacks installed, would you? Those things are evil." So I'm sure he has absolutely no agenda in his postings. [alert admin]

DiskWarrior 3.0.2 (Mac OS X)
Updater worked just fine. Burned just fine on my external Teac 48X firewire burner with Memorex CD-R from Big Lots. Updated DW CD booted just fine, ran just fine, fixed things real fast, and was overall a wonderful experience from the boys at Alsoft. Also I want to give a plug to MasterJuggler. I don't for the life of me understand why people stick with Suitcase. Give MasterJuggler a try, it rawks. [alert admin]

Maxi Bidder 1.61 (Mac OS X)
Read the feedback. This software doesn't work. Period. I have lost 3 ebay auctions, including a critical one today on a graphics card. The loss I have sustained by this non functioning piece of software can't be made up. DO NOT USE THIS! [alert admin]

Thoth 1.6.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
problem that you all are having. OSX. Well I use the speedy and familar OS9 and I have no issues with Thoth. I do up the mem to 40 MB, and I just watched the memory usage as I downloaded two albums of "multimedia" files. The only issue I have is when you grow a window the columns don't expand to the new size. As far as the authors "self pity" attitude, I'm not sure abotu that. I did send an email once and he replied with about two paragraphs of tech speak that mostly went over my head. Regardless I think he has more for him than against him, and Thoth is an excellent app. [alert admin]

but zeeceebee is correct. We are sucking ass compared to the PC version. It's also nice to see the Quality Control boys are on top of it. Notice the © 1995 - 2001 on the splash screen. [alert admin]

Drumbeat 1.6.6 (Mac OS 9)
this software is anything more than a scam. It does search the OpenNap servers but I don't think in either 1.05 or this version I have EVER gotten something to download. I get a lot of "File Qued" stuff, and "Connecting" but that's it. [alert admin]

Well it seems the developer has weighed in with a critic of my computer abilities. All I can say is read the reviews. Mark how many say it doesn't work, vrs the latest two that say how wonderful it is. Make your own choice. If the developer is so confident that it works, he can snipe a nVida 3 card for me and send it to me. That is what this non functional software cost…
