HP OfficeJet D series 7.3.1 (Mac OS X)
We decided to go for Konica Minolta´s C 252 and then you see how poor the quality of HP´s Officejets really is. We will not go anymore for HP products, and use the four Officejets as good as possible. At least the repaired OfficeJet G95 is doing its work for sending faxes. Our Apple computers are receiving faxes, which really works great. The 3 OfficeJets D 7140 ix are really terrible compared with the Konica Minolta. Of course they are much cheaper as well. HP OfficeJet D series 7.3.1 (Mac OS X)
Today we again (=second time) received replacements for our 7140 ix all in one machines. We signed a three year´s guarantee contract of about 40, €uros per machine and that means HP will replace our damaged/not working machines free of costs. The hardware is quite bad to be honest, and that when finally the software is working. Not perfectly well, however, far better than ever before. [alert admin]

HP OfficeJet D series 7.3.1 (Mac OS X)
After five months of use and that on three 7140 ix all in ones, we can now say that HP and Apple finally (!!!) made it all work. We are scanning hundreds of pages a day. Printing goes very well also, and faxing goes okay as well. Also our older G95 is now working on a G4/upgraded Sonnet 1Ghz computer with Tiger 10.4.5. Thanks Hp and thanks Apple! Yes, what I must add: better use USB rather than Ethernet connections. [alert admin]

HP OfficeJet D series 7.3.1 (Mac OS X)
We recommend at least every Mac OS 10.4.2 user to upgrade to 7.3.1. We tried this software on scanning for two days now, and it finally works without any serious bug. The interface is very nice and far better than any earlier version. Did HP finally make a bugless version? We think they did! At last.... Note: this forum is on software. On the hardware side we recommend three years warranty contract: these 7140 ix machines are having many problems, and they are not always easy to resolve, and replacement may be required. At the same time some problems are not that serious as they seem (see HP web sites) [alert admin]

We still use Quicken 6 for Mac OS 9.2, and now decided to go for Moneydance. Intuit simply forgot about their clients in for example Spain. Their web site is the worst we have come across sofar. [alert admin]

http://service1.symantec.com/SUPPORT/num.nsf/docid/2005032314263511 In Spain software companies are complaining a lot about ilegal software, and if what they are saying it true, then we are one of the very few companies that only has legal software. When at the same time you see the service that Symantec is giving to their clients, one starts to ask whether companies, like Symantec deserve our support. [alert admin]

QuickMail Client 3.5.2 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
QMail 3.5.2 works with Spotlight ![]()

We found the solution of what looked like a bug: Simply open Quick Mail files with Text Edit after finding them with Spotlight and that all within Spotlight without any bug or extra handling, and it all works really great. Spotlight is really fantastic, and Quick Mail 3.5.2 is second to none software. Now we hope our friends of 4D will make Spotlight work with the 4D engines. [alert admin]

Internet Cleanup 2.0.3 (Mac OS X)
We had the same problems with a demo of an Allume product and we really got crazy of the publicity alerts. And that in a country, like Spain, where we are receiving publicity almost every second. Finally we found the uninstall application. Tiger is giving a lot of head aches, and we should give companies like Allume some more time to upgrade their products. 4D for example is scheduling their upgrade for 23-06-05. I prefer they study it all very well before launching the updates in the markets. IMHO Apple should worry a bit about the lack of support from for example companies, like Symantec. If no progress/change on their products/strategy, then we will throw out all the products of that company. [alert admin]

Apple Mac OS X 10.4.1 (Mac OS X)
When I am writing this we are having connected our old DynaMo 230 Fuijitsu drive, our old ZIP SCSI 100 Drives, our G4 and G5 computers, our G4/80 Sonnet 400 Mhz computer, our Windows XP and 95 computer, our X Serve G4/2 x 1 Ghz, our Powerbook G4/1,5, our old PB 100, our very old Classic II, etc. etc. and that all in the very same TCP/IP network. We still use 10.3.9 on the main network, as we are waiting for 4D to upgrade their database for Tiger (around 23-06-05 already). On our Powerbook G4 we have Tiger 10.4.1 and we can only say one thing: really incredible. Already Spotlight is worth the money. Really second to none all what Apple is doing. Note: of course we are enjoying music while writing this review. Carly Simon music bought from the ITunes shop. [alert admin]

4D 2004.1 really solved the serious bugs we found in 2004. We will now also try 2004.2 beta and within one month 4D promised to send the certified 2004.2, which compatible with Tiger. This seems to be the very best version of 4D of its long history (we use 4D now for about 10 years), and its engine is really very fast. [alert admin]

Well after some weeks of use of the Konica Minolta all of the sudden we lost contact with the hard disk. Still to find out what happened (we called for the service company and are still to read the many manuals). One of the 7140 ix HP Office Jets took after and scanned more than 100 pages without any problem. Oh yes the machine is now showing "failing of the scanner, please restart". Too many…

Still working very well. Very important: install and then uninstall and move the HP application file to the trash. Unistall also the printer drivers (in system preferences) before doing the second install. Printer drivers will be installed automatically during the second install. Note: hardware failures like "failed to scan/restart" are (very very very) disturbing, however, no reason for replacement. Restart and the "all in one" works for the rest of the day. It has something to…

We have three 7140 units and know very well, that they give a lot of problems, and you have to read a lot of manuals, documents, etc. etc. etc.. We changed two of them, and that for little money (a three year service contract is very cheap). 6.3.4 worked quite welll for us, and only gave some small problems on scanning, though I think this is due to TCP/IP problems on our LAN. Faxing: is…

Good news from HP about Tiger compatibility (we did not try it out yet): The HP Officejet G95 and the HP Officejet 7140xi All-in-One will work with Macintosh 10.4 as long as the latest drivers are installed for both printers. The URLs below show where the drivers are for both the HP Officejet G95 and the HP Officejet 7140xi All-in-One. Also the rest of the HP Nam reply may be of interest (their support is really fantastic): Hello…
