Reunion 9.07 (Mac OS X)
I've used Reunion for almost 9 years now. Yes it costs more than the other programs out there, No it isn't perfect. But it is better than every other product I've tried for Mac OR PC. It does pretty much everything, effortlessly or as close as possible. I'm a serious researcher, I add tons of notes and source information. I can think of things I'd add, a few things I've found in other programs, but they are all details. It's pretty intuitive to use and pretty much self-training. Just use it. It doesn't break. If $40 is all you can afford this may be a good choice. If you can afford it though the commercial program Reunion is the best hands down for Mac users. The only thing I would like to see is the charting capability of Osk, because I have a huge database and need to make very large but very simple charts. The only program that does it for me is a Classic ap called GENE…

I haven't used the macFamily tree enough to feel sure, but I already use Reunion and have to say it is a beautiful, if pricey, choice. I've purchased upgrades (mostly so that I could migrate to OS X), and feel for serious genealogy work it's hard to match. The one thing I don't like is the charts it produces. I need to put a couple of hundred people on a single chart, I don't want colors…
