ODBC Manager 1.0 (Mac OS X)

To set the record straight

Actual are a good company, I've been using their Access drivers for Mac for many years but: Saying the ODBC Manager/Admin Tool is not available with Snow Leopard is true but doesn't really paint the real picture, tut tut... It is now a separate download: http://support.apple.com/downloads/ODBC_Administrator_Tool_for_Mac_OS_X [alert admin]

TextMate 1.5.9 (Mac OS X)

TextMate works

Someone below says not as good as BBEdit, yet, and that might be true. This is still only version one but I have to say for web development I've found it great and perhaps even more functional/user friendly than BBEdit; I've been a longtime advocate of that app (BBE), in fact it was quite a wrench at first (when I realised how smooth TM was for HTML/CSS/PHP), I felt I was betraying the latter! TM was has never crashed once, in over two years of using it. [alert admin]

Bookdog 5.1.12 (Mac OS X)

Great App, Great Customer Support (even when you don't need it)

I've been busily getting on with just letting this app get on with its job over the past year, without even thinking about it. I, like most people, have multiple Macs for work and need them all to be up-to-date and then (for me) a job the requires multiple browsers too, that also need to be synced. Bookdog, working in tandem with dot mac, helps me achieve all this - it's a great app. This isn't though why I felt the sudden urge, after all this time, to write a review: my mac lap top had to be wiped and in the process of reinstalling everything (don't you hate that bit), I found I'd lost track of my Bookdog serial . . . and low-and-behold (though I later found it) I woke this morning to find an e-mail from the sheepsystems crew with the details I required . . . Well done guys! [alert admin]

Apimac Secret Folder 4.0b (Mac OS X)

Encrpyted Disk Image is the way to go

So, people would now it's there but wouldn't be able to get in (if you choose a wise password) - therefore an encrypted disk image is the better security tool for documents you want to 'hide' and, though I like Apimac as a company, the added advantage of the disk image route is that it will cost you nothing - Apple's Disk Utility does the job [alert admin]
