Tastiera 0.5 (Mac OS X)

Great idea!

Downloaded and installed widget on my MacBook Pro; then used Amnesty Singles to generate a stand-alone app from the widget. So far, functions perfectly. It not only simulates (or assigns) pitches to the keyboard, it will also sustain a pitch if the given key is held down. In addition, I find the interface to be very attractive. Only one glitch: attempting to close the app using COMMAND-Q plays the pitch assigned to that key rather than quitting the application. (Then again, developer probably never intended widget to be used as a stand-alone app. So I have close it by CONTROL-clicking on its icon in the dock instead.) However, as a professional singer, I suspect this little widget/application is going to prove invaluable. [alert admin]

PasswordWallet for OS X & iPhone 4.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Problem in Leopard

Since upgrading to Leopard, I have been able to retrieve previously saved entries, but cannot create NEW entries. (I receive an error message that Password Wallet "cannot save the file.") I wrote to Tech Support several days ago, but received no reply. After using this app and supporting this developer for several years, I am VERY disappointed. [alert admin]

QuarkXPress 7.2 (Mac OS X)

Error during update

While attempting to update from version 7.1 to 7.2, I receive an error message stating that "an error has prevented the update from completing." It is also displays the error code "11500:2,-14". Anyone else experiencing similar problems? More importantly, can anyone suggest a solution? Must say that I have NOT been pleased with Quark 7. Version 6 may have been slow, but at least it was stable. Version 7 crashes frequently—something I have not seen since early releases of version 4. TIA. [alert admin]

Microsoft Office 2004 11.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Error message 16002

I received an email this morning (from Hewlett-Packard). First of all, the message's status remans "Unread" even after it is opened. Clicking on the "Download Pictures" link results in error message 16002. Similarly, trying to drag the message to the trash produces the same error message. So, this "unread" message remains permanently in my "In" box. I cannot delete it! [alert admin]

TiVoDecode Manager 1.1.5 (Mac OS X)

Problems persist

This is the third version of this application that I have downloaded, but I continue to have problems. The app easily connects to my TiVo and shows the contents of the "Now Playing" window. However, when I either (1) highlight an item and click on "Decode Show" or (2) add an item to the queue and then click on "Decode Queue," I receive a BRIEF message stating "Downloading" and then nothing else happens. I have tried three different Macs (G3, G4, and Intel, all running 10.4.8) using various wired and wireless Ethernet connections. I would be happy to provide more info to the developer if this would assist in solving the problem. I would also happily PAY for this application if I could get it to work. Please don't give up on it! [alert admin]

TiVoDecode Manager 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)

"A" for effort

I'm giving this developer an overall four-star rating for this software—because when (if?) he finally gets it to function properly, it will fill a long-vacant niche. Also, he has demonstrated that he is extremely responsive to suggestions from posters here. However, I have tried two different versions of this app on three different Macs (G3, G4, and Intel, all running OS 10.4.8) and have yet to successfully download and decode a TiVo file. The app effectively finds my TiVo on my home network (using wired and/or wireless Ethernet). Then, when I select a program to decode or add it to the queue and attempt to decode the queue, NOTHING happens. I'm not sure what else to say. Again, I'm extremely grateful for the effort—certainly more than TiVo has done for Mac users!—just wish I could get it to work. Please keep trying! [alert admin]

Watson 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)

I have a…

problem which started when I upgraded to Watson 1.5. I currently use DragThing v4.2.1 as an application switcher on my G4 (running OS 10.1.3). When I drag the Watson application icon onto the DragThing layer, it “freezes”; i.e., when I run my mouse over the newly-placed Watson icon I do not get a text message identifying the icon, nor does clicking on the icon open the application. (I am, however, able to open Watson by double-clicking on its icon in its own finder window.) Is this a problem with Watson or with DragThing? [alert admin]

Problem in Leopard

Problem resolved very efficiently after email exchange with developer—simply did a "Save As"on original database. Everything is functioning beautifully again. Terrific application!
