GIFmation 2.5 (Mac OS X)

Crashes On Register

I paid for this app, and then found that it crashes every time on trying to register it. 10.5.2 PPC machine. No response from the developers. How can they advertise this thing? At least it got me to realize I can now build my animations directly in Photoshop. [alert admin]

Amazing Slow Downer 3.2 (Mac OS X)

Great Product In Every Way

I have been at this sort of thing for four decades. You used to have to slow records down to 16 rpm's to drop the music an octave and put it in half time. Them you had to drop the needle in just the right place, and hold as much in your head as you could to do a transcription, before finding the right groove to drop the needle in again. As computers came around, I longed for software like this, and eventually it arrived. I have tried them all over the years. The developer of ASD updates with fixes constantly, and this app has every feature you can think of. Including dealing with the horrid DRM problems. The quality of my transcriptions has improved immeasurably with this app. If you think the UI is bad, look at the other apps with the same functionality. They are much worse. But I agree that the previous reviewers suggestions would be super, even though I don't have the same feelings about the current UI. I'll tell ya, I am so delighted with this software that I have even learned to tolerate its name. I don't have the time or energy to detail every feature that makes it so great, but maybe you can take the word of a guy who spends many, many long hours transcribing very fast and complex banjo and guitar music. ASD is a great app. [alert admin]

Symantec Norton Internet Security 3.0 (Mac OS X)

I Should Press Charges

So, I decided it was time to update the virus defs. Signed on. The site suggested I "upgrade" to NIS 3.0, which now I think I actually had done years ago, but what the hell, I spent the 40 bucks to "upgrade." I now see, however, that the suite doesn't work with any new version of OSX. Further, my NAV def subscription wasn't renewed anyway, and STILL says it's expired. I can't get to support on the website without their page crashing. I'm astonished they can stay in business. I long since abandoned them on my Windows boxes, and now I plan to just tell myself that I spent 40 bucks smartening myself up on the Mac side. As soon as I post this, I will rid my computer and my life of this fraudulent company's garbage once and for all, and be glad it only cost me 40 clams and not my whole life's worth of data. Snapz Pro X 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Works After All

I made an earlier comment that I still couldn't get audio on 10.4.1 movies, but it now seems to be working. I installed Wiretap to get the new kernel extension, but I'm not sure that I needed to - that is, I wasn't paying much attention to when things started working. All I know is that Snapz Pro X is now working perfectly in 10.4.1 [alert admin]

Toast Titanium 6.1 (Mac OS X)

Goodbye iTunes Store

I couldn't agree more! I am a musician myself, and I never pirate music, but I don't take my music encrypted when I can just buy the CD. Apple Music Store was a minor convenience, where I could have my tunes now instead of tomorrow. No more. I'm sure we will look back on all this foolishness some day and laugh, but I ain't laughing now, and I can't believe anyone would buy from Apple music store now! Why??? [alert admin]

MYOB AccountEdge 2005 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Steer Clear

I stopped upgrading as soon as I learned of that validation scheme. I have been using v 6.5 while I look for an alternative. I emailed the company about my objections and received a meaningless form reply. I will go open source before I ever submit to being locked out of my financial database by an internet failure or anything else. I guess they think they see the future, but not for me. [alert admin]

Corel KPT effects 1.0 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Since the demo…

worked with Photoshop 7.0 in OSX, I assumed that the product would, and I spent a lot of money. It doesn't work. How can this be? Were Corel and Adobe intentionally misleading here? OSX doesn't need THAT kind of help. [alert admin]

StickyBrain X 1.3.1 (Mac OS X)

The best of…

the sticky replacements. Could be in the top five apps I use on a daily basis, except it falls short of ideal. Import doesn't work. Sorting of list doesn't seem to exist. Will be worth the money if they continue development. [alert admin]

NOT!!!

I am here to report that after many years of loyalty to this product, I was unable to get past having to re-buy it (which I did) after upgrading to my Intel MacBook Pro (as described briefly in my second comment above). I am now happily using Transcribe! It is another, similar transcription aid that I have been with since its inception (as I had with ASD). The difference is better treatment from the developers. My…

Great Product In ALMOST Every Way

While I am still happy with the functionality of this software, I was dismayed that they made me buy the entire thing a second time when I was unable to update it on my new Intel Mac. I confess to having lost my registration email, but it is the ONLY piece of software that I had this problem with. I had an easier time transferring Adobe Photoshop CS3. I guess they don't keep a database of…

Crashes On Register

I take it back - they got in touch with me and refunded my money no questions asked, and then wanted to troubleshoot. If we can get it running, I will still pay for the app. Very pleasant interaction.

Another year another lack of effort

Agree completely. I have used this product since it was MYM. I hate myself for upgrading (about every other version, hoping against hope). My complaints are the same as yours. There seems to be no usable MacOSX business accounting software. And then there's the security checks and restarting the computer after an install. I hope this is the year I can break free of this company. Maybe a new Intel Mac and something on the Win side?

Treating their customers badly :(

I would like nothing better than to get away from MYOB, but why haven't there been any comments on VersionTracker about Moneyworks Gold since 2004? Seems odd.
