Halo 1.5.2 (Mac OS X)

The Backstab

Bungie, the PC only company that sold out to Microsoft wants you to download this app killer so you now will have to have the CD in the drive or you wont be able to play. They "claim " that more Mac users have stolen it than bought it but you can't even buy Halo Mac anymore, they never produced enough to sell and used scalpers are selling it for 120 a pop for a game with 1999 tech ! You can find the PC version for 10 dollars. Screw them ! Don't download it, it's a trap. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.0b (Mac OS X)

NOT READY DON'T USE !

Yes it installs but it screws up a lot. Unless you are into beta testing it is worthless to you. Spell checker diabled, other applications disabled, installer/uninstallers disabled, start up disk locks up so you can't start up , crashes during uninstall . After I unplugged the drive and got booted from another disk I restarted up then userd it to remove the beta and reinstalled the last 4.9 combo update because Safari 2 did not get put back during the uninstall. This was a beta disastor. [alert admin]

SpamCop 1.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Will work in Tiger

Register for spamcop on the web Follow the instructions in the dmg fror manual install , go to http://www.tikouka.net/mailapp/ and download the spamcopsend apple script. Then just make sure everything in your junk folder is unrequested spam. When you click o the applescript it wil ask you for your reporting address (you can get this at spamcop, right above the box you normally put your headers in). So far seems to work great. SketchUp 5.0.262 (Mac OS X)

My god, this is the best.

Pro : The great thing about SU is it's completely intuative tools . Even a dumb dumb like myself can learn them. If you haven't tried it try the FREE version (Pro has some upgrades but overall even the free version is cool) . Overall it is the best program for introducing yourself to 3D . It takes very little time to learn. You can import all kinds of different file formats like 3DS ,OBJ , LWO, DFX and lots of others. The Google Warehouse has TONS and I mean TONS of free 3D objects put up by the Google staff as well as the tons of users. What a 3D community is all about. Cons: You can do walk throughs but you can't really character animate with it but it is more a modeling program. The one file format it does not import is max , probably the most used format outside of Maya. And last , it's only flaw, an inability to creat your own light source. SU's got a built in light source that replicates the sun and it's not very movable really. Windows users can use secondary programs (there are addittional export modules for this ) to add light sources but no such thing on a Mac. Note: If you want to add text you can pick up the downloadable Guest PC (60 dollars , which replicates a PC on a Mac, though you Intel users probably can boot in Windows already ) , borrow a Windows CD and install it within GPC and then download the free 3D text program Elefont to export to. A bit of a hassle but it works. [alert admin]

Maxi Bidder 1.99r6 (Mac OS X)

Doesn't work at all.

When I first got Maxi Bidder a long time back it worked fine. With system changes and updates it began to screw up more and more till now I don't even get a window, it shows the app open but , nothing. I can re run set up wizard and even though I deleted the max-data file and rid myself of anything to do with maxi bidder , nothing. And it still has my original registration number so it's hidden in the system somewhere. Colorful wants you to use their forum but jesus folks, just give us a way to completely uninstall this thing so it works. Tell us in the download how to clean out previous versions. No one should have o search your forum because you are too lazy to do this. In 10.4 it's not working and frustrating get it right or go away. [alert admin]

SiteGrinder 2.0.2 (Mac OS X)

Time limited upgrades

Site Grinder is an interesting app but ...... the version I own 1.64 Pro I paid full price for and it had lots of glitches and things it could not do. They should have fixed those before pulling a 2.0 version on everyone. Now they gave a " limited time offer" ( I think it was like June 2006 ) for an upgrade but after just having purchased it flaws and all I felt why should I pay again for something that should have been fixed. There should be no time limits on 1 - 2 upgrades and they should have fixed the problems with one. Sorry they lost my faith and no I'm not paying them full price again. If this is your first time and yo want to web develope go ahead but I wish I hadn't bought the earlier version now. [alert admin]

FrameForge 3D Studio 1.5.6 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Frameforge 2.0 demo

Tried the limited demo. Saw nothing that makes it worth $400 dollars. Better than it was in 1.5.6 (yes I tried that too and dumped it). Not good enough for the money. Look Hash Animation master offers way more for $300. What makes this crude set up for blocking shots worth that much ? I dont know. [alert admin]

Time limited upgrades

Sorry Chris but that wont do. There should be NO time limits to a next version upgrade if you bought the previous full version . None. The video imbeds were needed in the first version . If the app was fully functioning and there were new features great but that was an update to finish what it lacked and not something that developers should use to pressure previous buyers into buying. Some of us…
