iStat Menus 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Very nice addition for any Mac geek. I find it really useful to be able to monitor my system using these meters. Shows me instantly when anything weird is happening. And this particular implementation looks better and is more customisable than others I have tried. Nice work! [alert admin]

Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.9 (Mac OS X)
Update won't install but I don't care because I just won't use this garbage any more. Office really is just junk. Microsoft seem to have just no idea how to create software with any sort of reasonable user interface. Plus it just doesn't work properly, and its slow and unreliable. Use iWork for a while and you'll get an idea what well designed software is actually like. [alert admin]

MediaCentral 2.8.3 (Mac OS X)
Looks like this could be a really useful program. I seem to remember previous versions worked OK, but this one crashes immediately after launch. [alert admin]

ImageMagick 6.4.6 (Mac OS X)
I use ImageMagick for processing files uploaded to web sites and web databases. It can process files, create thumbnails, generate image information, enhance, resize, etc, etc. The web site is the user interface. This isn't a substitute for Photoshop. Its completely different and a lot more useful for the type of web applications I am creating. Its more a programmer's tool than a user's tool. I think we should keep these Unix tools on VersionTracker. The best thing about the Mac is it can do the flashy GUI stuff (Photoshop) and the cool Unix stuff (ImageMagick) equally well. I want both! Apple iPhone 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
This seems to have destroyed my iPhone. I guess I have to start again by re-installing everything. This is the second time I have done this since I got the 3G. I think they have a lot of work to do on the iPhone OS yet! [alert admin]

Amadeus Pro 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
The problem I described in the previous post has been fixed. I got very prompt and expert support form the developer and I'm very impressed with how quickly the problem was solved. I'm not sure if the fixed version will be available for download yet but I guess it will be soon. [alert admin]

Amadeus Pro 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
Is this really Leopard compatible? Since I installed Leopard it crashes after a minute or two of playing and editing MP3 files. It never did that with Tiger. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 3.0b (Mac OS X)
If this "Product Requirements: Mac OS X 10.4.9" is true why won't it install on my MacBook Pro running 10.4.9? there must be something else but I don't know what it is. Oh well, OmniWeb is much better than Safari anyway! [alert admin]

Saved all the photos from a card that was so mangled no other programs I tried could see anything. Definitely recommended! [alert admin]

Apparently the crash is caused by the Safari 4 beta being installed on my machine. I got a reply from their support within 12 hours which is great. Hopefully this will be fixed soon because no other programs I have were affected by the beta being present.

Microsoft software completely stable? Do you actually use it? As an IT support person in an organisation with thousands of users I can assure you MS software causes more problems than all the rest combined! But I agree that MS bashing without using the product is a bit unfair. OTOH it is the associated tricks (breaking standards, sending info to MS) which are the main problem here.
