X-Plane 7.41 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Beta is Over

You can all relax now. There shouldn't be any more flurried releases. Get 7.41 and try to enjoy yourselves. If that's possible without complaining. [alert admin]

Unreal Tournament 2004 3120.1 (Mac OS X)

Stupidest bug ever.

I'm not going to spend the money until I see results in the demo, that's for sure. [alert admin]

Unreal Tournament 2004 3120.1 (Mac OS X)

Response to last post

Yeah, sure, I get great FPS when I'm staring at the ground or at a corner of the map. Oh, and there's the fact that there's NO SOUND. [alert admin]

Unreal Tournament 2004 3120.1 (Mac OS X)

Panther 10.3.3

Hopefully the driver updates in the upcoming OS X update will solve some of our FPS problems. But more likely, it will create more. [alert admin]

Unreal Tournament 2004 3120.1 (Mac OS X)

Bigger resolutions?

What about me? I'm a Powerbook user and with a maximum pixel count of 1440x900, The biggest resolution I can use is 1024x768. The one above that, 1152x864, doesn't work at all for me. Am I excluded from playing a game because I bought an insanely expensive portable? [alert admin]

Unreal Tournament 2004 3120.1 (Mac OS X)

No framerate improvements.

Great! The new version gives me ping values and brake/reverse lights on wheeled vehicles. I still get 8-12 fps in battle. Standing in the corner with no map in front of me yields a maximum of 30fps. 1.33ghz Powerbook, 1gb ram, ATI radeon 9600. [alert admin]

Unreal Tournament 2004 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Framerate same in any graphics settings

Oddest thing, wether I set all graphics options to maximum, and make it look great, or set everything to lowest and make it look like mush warmed over, it always plays at the same frame rate, nominally about 22 to 24, but down to 10 or less during heavy action. I hope this is an early alpha and not the finished product. 1.33ghz PowerBook, 1GB ram, Radeon 9600 [alert admin]

Halo 1.0.4 (Mac OS X)

Waste of time.

First we have to deal with Microsoft stealing Halo away from us two years ago, then when it does get to Mac, it requires an almighty powerhouse of a Mac to run it satisfactorily. And now we have to suffer through updates that first require a CD to play, and on top of that, an update created soley because of a poorly written PC application, that further mucks up the playability of the game. If anyone is walking outside in central Jersey today, beware a flying Halo disc as I throw it out my window. [alert admin]

iTunes Monitor 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Addendum to last comment.

I forgot to add: Double clicking on a song being displayed in Monitor should launch the file in the users local iTunes. Some of us with very large libraries might see someone else playing a song. And then they would say to themself, "Self, I'd really like to listen to that song, but I don't want to swim through my Music Library. Wouldn't it be great if I could just double click it?" Double clicking the IP/hostname/shared library name of the user in Monitor could also open that users Shared playlist, if they are sharing. (Blue or red dot). So there. [alert admin]

iTunes Monitor 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Here's what I would change:

The feedback this program returns is rather raw. I don't know if it can, but I only get IP addresses, so it should also read hostnames, and also display with that hostname the other client's Shared Library name (If the user of Monitor is perusing the other users library) Then, for what is playing: The Monitor should be able to pick out the ID3 information instead of the raw path/filename. It can do this by matching the file name to the local library's entry, or reading right off the file like an mp3 player. You could make this an option to display the file or the ID3 info in Preferences, or have two columns that can display both side by side(ID3 should show at least song name, artist name, and album name. Perhaps users can select to display other ID3 information such as track number, disc number, genre, etc). Third issue: With what you said about the monitor only displaying the song while it is streaming (and the song disappearing when the streaming is done and the other user is playing off of cache), this seems simple enough to fix. If the monitor can tell when the song is playing (Green dot) and when the user is not playing any songs, but is connected (yellow dot), then the monitor should simply display that song until either the next song in the playlist plays, or the user disconnects. Until one of those criteria are met, Monitor can assume the song is still playing (paused or not). If all of those we're included, hey, I'd probably even pay for it. [alert admin]

5 stars??

I have tried Snak out, the problem is, Snak dosen't connect to half of the specialized servers I connect to. If Snak isn't going to make a fully compatible client, then it's no use to users like me. Nosh
