Mactracker 5.0.10 (Mac OS X)

Won't launch from Applications folder

Weird... 5.0.10 will not launch when located in the Applications folder. However, it launches fine when the app is placed on the desktop or even from the Downloads folder. This occurs using Leopard 10.5.8 on a PowerPC G4 stock Dual Gig processors. On my MacBook Pro 15" 2.6 GHz it (Mactracker 5.0.10) launches just fine from the Applications folder... go figure. The MacBook Pro is running Snow Leopard 10.6.1. Just for the record, I have been using Mactracker for many years and it has always been a fantastic app... very handy to have around if you do any Mac consulting or troubleshooting. [alert admin]

BdCalendar 1.220 (Mac OS X)

Fantastic App... even better support!

I have been using BDCalendar since it was released and prior to that purchased at least four licenses for the developer's previous menu bar calendar app - Aquila Calendar. I have been thoroughly happy with both. It is so handy to have a quick calendar reference that is readily available in the menu bar without having to launch iCal or any other program. The feature set of BDCalendar is extensive and I am quite confident that I do not come close to utilizing its full potential. As great as BDCalendar is, I have to say that the developer's support goes beyond greatness. His responses are unbelievably quick and very helpful. On the rare occasions that I have contacted him, he immediately resolved my issues and even explained the cause and the fix of each situation. His customer support is the best I have ever experienced. Bottom line... this is a great app with fantastic support! Highly recommended. [alert admin]

Very useful calendar program

I have been a user of this developer's other calendar utility (AquilaCalendar) for the past 5 years. I am glad to see his continued support for Apple's newest operating system (Leopard) in the form of BdCalendar. BdCalendar offers a wide variety of useful features for the user which can be highly tailored to suit individual needs and preferences. It has the ability to be a fully functioning task management program integrated with iCal and Address Book or can be slimmed down to only provide calendar views in 1, 3, 6 or 12 month formats. Very easy to use and handy to have around. The developer's support and response is exceptional. He responded to a question I had about BdCalendar within minutes of me sending an e-mail... joined me for a screen sharing session... indentified the problem... corrected the problem and provided me a link to download the corrected version all within about 10 minutes of my original inquiry... on a Saturday evening no less! Highly recommended! [alert admin]

iTeXMac 2.0 preview 145 (Mac OS X)

weird name for a CM Plugin

this software looks usefull, although i have not tried it yet, i have just installed it. With it comes a Contextual Menu (CM) item named "iTeXMac.CMPlugIn". I have dropped it in a right place : /Library/Contextual Menu Items/ But this item is a directory that should appears as a file in the Finder (like a .app directory does). So i have change its name from "iTeXMac.CMPlugIn" to "iTeXMacCM.plugin" like other CM items have. and it looks better now [alert admin]

WingNuts 1.3.1 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Can't get demo to successfully launch

My children and I are avid fans of the first version of Wingnuts and they eagerly awaited the release ot WN 2. My oldest son played the demo at MacWorld SF in January and has been regularly asking me if it has come out yet. You should have seen him dance around the house when I told him it was released two days ago... But alas... I can not get the demo to run. I have dowloaded the 175 Mb file onto two machines both running 10.4.6 (Quicksilver G4 Dual Gig with 1.5 Mb Ram; Quicksilver G4/867 upgraded with Sonnet Dual 1.7 GHz and 1.5 Mb Ram). Both machines will not successfully launch the demo. They both try... the app icon shows up in the dock, I get the initial splash screen (showing remaining tries on the demo), click the "Play Now" button, but after waiting over a minute it becomes "non-responsive" and must be forced quit. Two separare downloads... two separate machines... needless to say my kids were very dissappointed. I hope an update is coming soon. [alert admin]

CopyPaste + yType 2.6.4 (Mac OS X)

Thanks

A great big thanks to the developer for solving the slow start-up with the release of 2.6.4. Now launches instantly as compared to about 40 seconds of icon bouncing. Great utility and very useful. Thanks again!! [alert admin]

R.I.P. TopCalculette

Version 8.5.1 is available on their web site. It was apparently posted 8/28/09. It is free upgrade for version 7 users. Runs just fine with Snow Leopard. Not sure why VersionTracker has not picked it up.
