CDFinder 5.1.1 (Mac OS X)

NO NEW VERSION!

Dear Giorgio! Sorry for the confusion! There is no real new version of CDFinder. Versiontracker has just picked up the change to the CDFinder Disk Image. I had to modify that because it had contained the wrong Germany license agreement, and for it to be binding, the executable needed a modified version. So there is no need to re-download CDFinder 5.1.1 if you already use it. [alert admin]

Send As Email CMM 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Simply does what it should

I like it. It is simple, and it does what it should. And it is free. What more can you ask for? OK, I would LOVE to see a little Installer, so I won't have to do that myself... ;-) My own "MP3-Info CMM" has a tiny AppleScript that places the file in the right place, might be a nice addition for the next version. CDFinder 4.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Oryman

1. What do you think CDFinder could gain from being ported to Cocoa? 2. No, CDFinder will not support the .sitx format. It already does support the native .zip format that Apple is using in the Mac OS, and as the .sitx is far from being widely used lately, the effort is not worth it. Also, the .sitx format is heavily encoded, non-standard, not-documented, and therefore more than hard to decode. Stick with .zip! It is built-in, and it's free. And PC users can read it, too. ScrollWheel issues?

GooGoo, there are NO known scroll wheel related issues. Maybe you can specify what version of the Mac OS you use, what mouse drivers, or other extensions. And usually in these cases, one would contact the developer of the product... [alert admin]

CDFinder 3.6.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Well, the next…

version 4.0 will have a new icon, and a totally reworked user interface. You will be able to freely chose the font and size for display, even an iTunes like display style, if you wish. Of course, it will catalogue the 32bit icons of Mac OS X and display them, and use Quartz text. What do you think? ;-) [alert admin]

needs .ai support

If the .ai files are stored as "pdf compatible", then CDFinder 5.6 will read the thumbnails already. But we are investigating if we can get them for the other case as well... Regarding the 3D formats: That is a great idea. Since I myself don't do any 3D at this time, what formats and applications are important? Do you have a couple of sample files? -> support@cdfinder.de Thank you very much for your feedback!!!

No Virtual Machines recognition? - But it does!

The solution is already in CDFinder. Virtual machines are actually bundles (special folder type), and if you turn on the cataloging of bundle contents in the Preferences of CDFinder, it will of course calculate their size correctly. As the default is to Ignore Bundle contents, you currently get 0 as the size, as CDFinder ignores them... Yours,

request 3d model previews

Mh, if these mentioned products save "normal" graphics alongside their 3D data, then CDFinder can already do that, as CDFinder reads a huge amount of "normal" graphic file formats, such as EPS or PDF, JPG, or TIFF. I really really suggest that you should contact us with some sample files, as we really don't have all 3D software packages available to us... Thank you!

Keeps crashing when searching

Did you contact technical support for this problem? ;-) No, unfortunately not ;-) If you do, please add the CDFinder crashlog file to it. The Find crash is very likely a crash due to a problematic catalog created by CDWinder on Windows (versions prior to CDWinder 2.5 could create damaged MP3 record), but the crashlog will explicitly tell us what is going on. The Cataloging crash is likely a damaged photo file, please check this here to find…

Wish I could upgrade - no one is home?

Uh, I cna only say that everybody is home. Now if I would know your real name or adress, I could actually tell you more about this, but I don't... If you cannot reach us by email, we also have a fax (see on the CDFinder web page) Also, in 99,9999% of these cases your email provider has a problem, so please use a different email account for that. And let me assure you that we…

Slow, buggy and well... a bit odd

Mh, your comment it a bit - odd? What errors did you get while finding? Did you contact tech support about this? CDFinder has a great auto catalog/eject feature built in. You did see that CDFinder reads a huge amount of meta data, containing some possibly slow items, such as file comments? So cataloging speed greatly depends on your settings... CDFinder has totally seamless SpotLight integration, and it clearly displays all meta data of every found item, like their…

Registration nightmare

In 100 out of 100 cases, that is due to your email filters set up wrong. Make sure you can recieve emails from sales@cdfinder.de (as the email that comes with the temp license clearly states), and you will get your license key in no time at all. Or provide an alternative email adress that we can send emails to. And since we don't know your real name, or email, or anything, we cannot help you…

I'm another one having Registration Problems

Try sending an email to sales@cdfinder.de and also make sure that YOUR email is working, or offer a different email address. A lot of people complain and have their filters set up so they can't get any reply from suppliers and such. Or provide a fax number.

Good features, but not my choice overall

Mh, that is a strange review. What exactly do you want to say with it? Maybe you can use the extensive comparison chart http://www.cdfinder.de/list.html for some actual real technical details, or read one of the very exhaustive reviews at either http://homepage.mac.com/macsnc/cdfinder.html or http://www.atpm.com/11.10/catalogers.shtml
