Splunk 3.4.9 (Mac OS X)
There appears to be a deception here. The download is free. The product is not. Al Maloney [alert admin]

Bwana 2.3 (Mac OS X)
Bwana is extremely useful, helpful, etc and beautiful. The developer is really paying attention to comments and very responsive in his help. I had a problem running 2.3 in Firefox 2.0.0.11 on Mac OS X 10.5.1. I posted the problem and within a few hours received a reply, I applied the solution and in a few minutes Bwana was up was working again. Thanks for a great Bwana and thanks to Conor! OpenOffice.org 2.3.0 (Mac OS X)
Several years ago I was able to quit using MS Office. I use OpenOffice.org, the X11 version, on Mac OS X. I use it at home and at the office. My staff of 4 had little difficulty with the switch. I am very pleased with OOo. However, at the moment the Aqua version does not allow one to select attributes for the printer (tray, duplex, etc). Al Maloney [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 2.2.2 (Mac OS X)
After installation of 2.2.2 my Finder does not work properly. New windows do not open in the front. The Preferences window does not open in the front. The Dock "Automatic Hide and Show" does not work. Using the remove application does not correct the problem. Before I knew what was causing the problem, I called Apple about the problem and the tech could not help me. I finally had to erase my hard drive to get rid of the problem. When I installed LCC 2.2.2 to-day, I got the problem again. Thus I have discovered the cause of the problem. Now I have to erase my hard drive again! "Do NOT install LCC 2.2.2" is what I have learned. Al Maloney [alert admin]

CUPS-PDF 2.4.6 (Mac OS X)
Neither version 2.4.0 nor 2.4.6 workk for me. I am using OS X 10.4.10 and cups-1.2.12 With 2.4.0 Virtual Printer appeared. I followed the installation instructions. With 2.4.6 CUPS-PDF appeared, not Virtual Printer. I followed the installation instructions to create PDF Writer. In all cases, when I tried to print I got the dialogue screen with the progress bar as if it were printing. Nothing showed up in the Desktop directory. What am I doing wrong? Is there a forum for discussing problems? Al Maloney [alert admin]

Years ago, I replaced MS Office with OpenOffice.org - the X11 version - both at home and in my office. An Aqua (native) version is available now, version 2.40, on VersionTracker. I have been using the beta 3.0 version with great success. It is available for Intel and PPC Macs, as well as Linux and the other platform.. You can get it at http://ooopackages.good-day.net/pub/OpenOffice.org/MacOSX/ OOo release version 3.0 should be available in the very near future. Al Maloney

lets bombard them with emails till they fix it!!!
Perhaps a gentler. more grateful approach to a problem with free software might be more rewarding. I hope the attitude implied in the head to the msg will not result in the cessation of further development of a useful widget. Al Maloney

Interesting! From the name of the programme I thought it would be one to teach me pronunciation of the words. Machs nichts. It appears to be a nice little programme. Al Maloney
