Port Peg 1.6 (Mac OS X)

Works as advertised

I needed something to convert PDF files to JPEG so I can read them on my NDS (with PassMe) as I believe neither MoonShell nor DSOrganize can read PDF. I didn't figure how to convert a whole PDF quickly with Preview or GraphicConverter but this app did it fast and correctly. The remove margin option is nice since the pictures produced are smaller and fit better on the NDS screen. The quality was similar to the original file when using optimal quality in Jpeg settings. Now, I can read ebooks in the bath ^_^ I only have a problem with the "check for update" option that always says there is a new version although I have the last one. I just wished that the files were named with the same number of digits for the page numbers (e.g. starts at <filename>_001 and not <filename>_1 if some later files will be called <filename>_123) so they would be better organized. No big deal anyway. PS : I didn't try the batch feature, other picture formats and thumbnail option, so my review doesn't take these into account. [alert admin]

Enigmo 2 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Awesome!

Enigmo was wonderful, Enigmo 2 is plainly awesome and magic. Playing with the new magnetic particles is pure fun AND beauty. After playing the demo, I knew I had to buy it which was done in a couple of minutes. The music are great, as in the precedent opus, but more relaxing (which is nice and needed). The graphics are better. The gameplay is enhanced. The controls of the camera are mediocre but it's probably because I use a trackpad and didn't set the sensitivity to a proper value. The only real drawback I felt was the (relatively) small amount of levels as I finished the 8 levels demo very quickly (but I suppose it was made to be easy and I still have to play all the levels of the full version). Anyway the level editor should break this limit. I'm awaiting for your levels! If you liked Enigmo, you should love Enigmo 2. [alert admin]

SwitchRes 3.3 (Mac OS X)

Description is STILL incorrect

Notice that on 4/16/2003 (almost one year ago), I stated that the description for this tool was incorrect as it wasn't able to restore icon position. The installation note of version 3.3 still says that "a limitation in the Finder X doesn’t allow SwitchRes X to replace the icons on the desktop at this time". We don't care who's fault it is. It's time to clearly state that this app has never been and is not going to be able to save and restore icon positions on OSX in a foreseeable future. [alert admin]

mlMac 0.6 (Mac OS X)

About Uploading (to Smiff)

mlmac uses mlnet (aka mldonkey) to connect to different networks including, but not limited to, eDonkey/eMule and Overnet. The power of these networks (and some others) relies in the fact that users share files while downloading them and thus allow people to dowload a file from a large number of sources even if most of them haven't finished downloading it. So mlnet will automatically share all the files that you are downloading. Btw, someone who wants to download files on a P2P network without sharing hasn't understood P2P. Read the doc, FAQs and forums (such as http://www.macdk.com) to learn more. [alert admin]

Lame 3.93 (Mac OS X)

Lame 3.93

Visit the author page to get the latest version (3.93) or get it at: http://www.culater.net/dl/dl.php?package=lame&version=3.93 However I could not make it work. I keep getting these error messages: dyld: /usr/local/bin/lame Undefined symbols: /usr/local/bin/lame undefined reference to _tgetent expected to be defined in /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib Trace/BPT trap [alert admin]

AnaBuilder 2.24.2 (Mac OS X)

2.24.2 is better (but not perfect)

It is far easier to install and run version 2.24.2 as all files are included with correct permissions. One problem though: the *.command files won't launch the app, I always get "<PathToAnaBuilder>/AnaBuilder.command: Command not found.". I can't figure out why (maybe a path related problem?). However, as Ebbe already said, using the Terminal to go into AnaBuilder's folder and launch "./AnaBuilder.sh" works. The problem about loading images seems to be fixed. Now, I just need to understand how the app work :o) [alert admin]

AnaBuilder 2.24.1 (Mac OS X)

It works if you follow author's instructions (and mine)

The procedure given by the author does (almost) work. There is only one problem: you MUST change permissions on the AnaBuilder.command file to make it executable (type "chmod +x <PathToAnaBuilder>/AnaBuilder.command" in Terminal). You should be able to launch the app by double-clicking on the command file from now on. Otherwise, when I try to load a picture, I get a handful of NullPointer exception because the number of channels is not matching (??) but I guess I'm the one who is doing something wrong. GetArtwork 1.0 (Mac OS X)

I don't want to use Safari

This almost work with another browser but the script keeps asking for the location of Safari so I always have to select my own browser. Otherwise, it's quite nice. btw, the new review system of VT is changing every minute so I don't know how this post will look in the end. [alert admin]

MLdonkey 2.4rc6 (Mac OS X)

Still great but…

I have some concerns with version 2.4rc6 : - The app version is rc7 in fact - Why did the version number jump from 2.04rc1 to 2.4 (whereas it is still called 2.04 on other platforms)? - In the web interface, Client Stats are strange: the total of client seen during the current session is incorrect (a bit more than the real total) - Finally, I have troubles connecting to servers, it takes longer than before and I hardly get 2 servers (which is enough when I can get them). RUINED IT. DISGUSTING. ABSOLUTELY A SHAME.

I agree that the ring is not really easy to pick so it's difficult to get a high bonus because you lose some time trying to. Anyway, it's still possible and not that hard to pick it. You can still play the game and resolve the puzzles. So it does not ruin the game and your rating is *really* too harsh.

Overnet nodes?

You don't see OverNet nodes in the list of servers as OverNet is not a server-based protocol. You can check how many nodes you now in Client Stats or in OverNet Stats.
