Tubetrack Widget 0.8.1 (Mac OS X)
Where can I get Widget v0.8.2?
I have the latest version of the application which still works fine, but I would really like to have a copy of the latest version of this excellent Widget. However the .mac page for the developer seems to have disappeared. Does anyone have a copy of the widget that they could mail to me? If so, please send to tubetrackATanonimouse.net. Shame that the developer seems to have disappeared - this really is a useful utility that I use all the time for checking when the next train will arrive. An iPhone/iPod Touch version would be quite invaluable. TIA, Nick [alert admin]

MainMenu 1.7.3 (Mac OS X)
Suggestion for additional feature
How about adding the ability to empty the trash of specific volumes only? That would seem to fit well within the range of features of this great product. [alert admin]

TV Tracker 3.6 (Mac OS X)
My guess is that this widget should really be called US TV Tracker rather than being unqualified in terms of territories it serves - but I may be wrong as I can't find hard and fast evidence either way. Yet again Americans live up to their rep of not knowing that there is a world outside their own country. The website for the widget talks in very unspecific terms, saying for example "TV Tracker 3.5 is the easiest way to see what's on TV". Well that may be the case in the USA but it doesn't apply anywhere else. Come on, get an education why don't you? [alert admin]

Logitech Control Center 2.4.0 (Mac OS X)
I have not had any significant problems with v2.3.1 under Leopard or Tiger so the safest route is probably to stay with the older version. However there are a couple of big frustrations even with this version: 1. The only way of checking which version is installed is to navigate to Library/PreferencePanes and Get Info on Logitech Control Center.prefPane (which incidentally is the only pref pane without an icon on my system). Why in the world can't this information be readily accessible within the pref pane itself? There's no excuse for something as slapdash as this. 2. There's apparently no way of switching off the update checking function in the software, which means that even if you do want to stay with 2.3.1 you have to keep dismissing a reminder dialog periodically (I think once a week) that encourages you to download the latest version (without telling you what version that is, I might add). Why no preferences accessible from the pref pane? Having said that, the functionality that the software provides with the excellent S530 keyboard/mouse combo is excellent - it's just a shame that Logitech clearly puts much too little time into ironing out the problems with their Mac software. Seiko Smart Label Printers 1.7 (Mac OS X)
Although I did receive an indication from the development team that the suggestions that I made in my last post (below) would be incorporated in the next version, sadly they did not appear. I have also recently discovered a couple more points that need attention relating to the Ruler. Firstly I cannot see how to change the ruler to use metric measurements rather than imperial (inches), and secondly the ruler has a habit of suddenly disappearing and then it is very random about coming back, despite the option still being ticked (and greyed out) in the Text menu. Fix please! [alert admin]

Fan Control 1.2 (Mac OS X)
No apparent way to find out what the version number of the installed product is - it's not mentioned in the pref pane itself, and a Get Info on the file doesn't reveal a version number either> How do I know if I need to update or not? Also, why are there fields for two fans, one of which (Right) just says -1 RPM, when there is only one fan in my system? Great product otherwise... [alert admin]

APC Powerchute 1.3.4 (Mac OS X)
APC certainly don't tell you. Here are the questions: 1. Why should you install this product when OS X has built-in support for UPSes which works with APC models. They keep on maintaining the product so they must think there's a reason, but they don't reveal what it is anywhere! 2. The About... dialog in the prefpane says: "PowerChute Personal edition protects your operating system by gracefully shutting down your system in the event of an extended power problem", but the Read me file says: "The OS shutdown performed by this application is an emergency shutdown. No applications are closed and no application data is saved." WTF? Which one is true??? Who knows? It would be great if someone from APC could comment, but I'm not holding my breath! [alert admin]

Canon CanoScan Toolbox 4.9.3.3 (Mac OS X)
Having had nothing but problems using a LIDE70 with an Intel Mac Mini, and having made sure that I had the latest drivers from the Canon UK website, I contacted Canon tech support. They were totally useless and told me that the problem must lie with MacOSX, and not with their drivers or the scanner. However at the Canon USA website there are later drivers which are specifically labelled as suitable for Intel Macs. Go to: http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&tabact=DownloadDetailTabAct&fcategoryid=351&modelid=14003 and you can get Driver v12.12.0 and Toolbox v5.0.1.1. I still don't know which parts of the software are in each file, so I will be installing both. The key question is which one contains the TWAIN plugin, but that is not specified anywhere. You obviously need the drivers, but the Toolbox may just contain the crappy "console" application. [alert admin]

I'm with spungraphics and rod10 - I don't care if you can get the rebate if you persist - refusing it the first time is tantamount to fraud and totally objectionable. This upgrade isn't worth having apart from the blu-ray support, and who needs that right now? I'm holding off until I really need the blu-ray support, and that won't be until both the drives and the disks are down to an affordable price.

Is there a website providing Canadian TV schedules?
Your comment doesn't address the question of whether or not there is a third party website providing schedule information for Canadian TV. If there is not, it is hard to see what Elgato can do about it - I'm sure you're not suggesting that they change their business to start up a website themselves. If there is such a website already, does it provide a facility for software like EyeTV to access its data? Without this…

Version 5 has NOT been released yet - it is totally clear everywhere I have seen this referred to that Softpress have made a pre-release of the next version available to people, but this is in no way the same as the release of a new version. So quit the whining about no free upgrades - the version you have is still the current shipping version. Wait until the new version is actually released before…

Terrible Software - Black Screen only
Your Mac only has USB 1.1 ports. These are obviously vastly too slow (at only 12Mbit/s) to be able to support the amount of data required to display video. Your score is entirely unfair to EyeTV and I would suggest that in future you should look into the background to any problems you might experience before unthinkingly giving such a negative score to a product.

Could not locate correct version to update
My guess would be that you haven't run all the updaters in order to bring Word up to the version number needed to run the latest updater. I can't tell you what the version number for Word should be prior to the latest update as they don't always update the application when the updates are run, so the only way to find this out would be to get an old version and progressively run the…

I just don't recognise this poster's experience. I have used Auction Hunter since it was first available and I can honestly say that it has never failed to submit a bid for me. I obviously haven't won all the auctions, because I have sometimes been outbid - this is only to be expected. But in every respect I think this is a very impressive and reliable product, and it totally doesn't deserve a one star…

I have exactly the same symptoms with the same Mac and a Logitech S530 keyboard/mouse (otherwise excellent). I will try reverting to 2.2.1 if I can find it.

A little better but still a VERY unstable program
There MUST be some cause of this instability on your system because I for one certainly don't have anything like your experience with EyeTV. I don't think I can recall the program ever actually crashing on me, and I'm a pretty heavy user of it. It's not perfect, and there's a few (relatively minor) things that I would like to see improved, but stability has not been an issue in my personal experience. I have…

Cannot burn a disk because of a MacOSX error -50
Firstly, my duplicated comment above is not my doing - VT seems to have done this by itself. I can't find any way of deleting one of the two comments as there is only one comment in my history. Anyway, the main reason for commenting again is that it is very clear that there is a big issue with Toast's memory management. I've just burnt a DVD (from EyeTV) and this time Toast turned all of…

Cannot burn a disk because of a MacOSX error -50
Having rebooted my Mac, resulting in 2.3GB of free memory, I launched Toast and tried to burn one of these movies. I then watched as Toast turned 1.7GB of this Free memory into Inactive memory while it multiplexed the movie. Having done this, it then threw up the same error message as previously as soon as it got to the end of the multiplexing process. Quitting from Toast did not result in all of the…
