MacSpeech Dictate 1.5.2 (Mac OS X)

Useles pice of CRAP!

I've bought every single incarnation of this software from version 1.0 of iListen and stupidly paid for every single upgrade including Dictate. I have never gotten a single version not one to function as advertised. IListen was useless. Dictate sounded promising but after flaking out another few hundred dollars it just crashes. Every now and then I try it again after an update but as of OS 10.5.8 and Dictate 1.5.2 it still crashes . At least iListen ran. Dictate is a dog. [alert admin]

SecuritySpy 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)

1.6.2 issue resolved...

Well it appears that my issue with SecuritySpy crashing on launch has been resolved with out resulting to a hard drive restore. In preparation for the restore I ran DiskWarrior over the drive and repaired the permissions. I do this religiously before I run a restore to make sure there are no issues with the drive before I run the restore. I then always boot the volume back up to see if the issue was resolved by the diagnostic repair. Much to my surprise SecuritySpy 1.6.2 launched. With all settings in place. This really is a fantastic piece of software that I highly recommend. It is the most affordable and functional security surveillance software available for the Mac and has been for many years. It has become a Mission critical piece of software for our business. So no restore required. I noticed there were some strange privilege issues which DW repaired. Disk Warrior is another piece of software that we could not do with out. [alert admin]

SecuritySpy 1.6.2 (Mac OS X)

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 1.61 0r 1.62.....

DO NOT UPGRADE TO 1.61 0r 1.62..... I have just upgraded to Security Spy 1.6.2 and it trashed security Spy. It no longer launches and I am having to restore my whole hard drive from back up. 1.6.1 didn't work either but I could at least revert back to 1.6. But 1.6.2 TRASHED Security Spy completely and no version would launch again. [alert admin]

SuperDuper 2.5 (Mac OS X)

Superduper disables DNS

I appear to have discovered a problem when running Superduper 2.5 on a Mac Mini Intel on 10.5.2 and EIMS 3.3.7 - Every time SD runs it appears to disable the computers DNS making the computer inaccessible to the network and the internet - A most undesirable situation for a Mailserver.... Speed Download 5.0 (Mac OS X)

Looks like the Shi! hit the fan over at YazSoft...

I too got caught out with their upgrade "strategy" after purchasing the MacHeist bundle earlier this year - I too gat a very annoying shock to see that Speed Download 4 that was purchased just a few weeks ago became trial software again with out warning when applying the auto update feature in SDL4 - But it looks like a lot of humble pie is being eaten over at YazSoft. Even though they say it’s not their fault and blame MacHeist and say support for version 5 was never mentioned - They have acknowledged that it’s omission was not all MacHeists fault and should have been made clearer by YazSoft at the out set - And the auto upgrade to a trial of version 5.0 thus disabling the paid for version 4 was entirely their mistake - So they have made good by offering version 5 for $15.00 US although it took me 3 days to find the page on the YazSoft site with their apology and the instructions on howe to redeem the ver 5 upgrade for $15.00 - Not a completely satisfactory outcome but to me acceptable - It appears that a rather large amount of heat was generated over the issue and they decided to "wear the cost" - The apology is quite a good read and I have to give kudos to them for biting the pillow! - Version 5 is an improvement I guess but it still contains annoying bugs that version 4 has like reveal in finder still doesn’t work and for a while down loads were stuck in .a speed download pkg with file having to be revealed in the Finder via show package contents - Never the less it’s is 10 times faster than safari and works with all common browsers - The appology page with down load/upgrade instructions can be found here - http://www.yazsoft.com/content/mh.html [alert admin]

Saft for Safari 3 Public Beta 9.0b5 (Mac OS X)

Solving Safari 3.0.3 Error

For Sharon. Just open the info.plist file in text edit (Make a backup first) Then scroll to the end and copy say the last entry <string>522.12.1</string> add a new line by placing the curser at the beginning of the just copied string and hit return then paste the copy in to the new line at the top (You may need to tab to get them all to line up then modify the version number to the version you are wishing to use (It will need to be the same seed so for this example 522.xx.x but not 523.xx.x) Then save and relaunch Safari. How ever - Please Mr Hao Li throw us a bone sir. You had better hope no one else develops a viable alternative to Saft or you will be screwwed. Your clients will leap in droves. Now al we need to do it to get rid of the annoying reminders - Hay Mr Hao Li According to our agreement - We paid for it already it already!! Remember all updates. [alert admin]

Eudora Internet Mail Server 3.3.1b3 (Mac OS X)

EIMS 3.3

This package just keeps getting better - Since ver 3.3 we have seen the delivery of spam fall to our servers (we run about 6 or 7 mail servers) on average from about 4000-5000 emails per week (Per Server) to just a few hundred (Per Server) and its still falling. And its rock solid! Well done Glenn! [alert admin]

please help me with this !!!!!!!!!!!

I cant believe I’m reading this. I must apologize now and I don’t mean to mock but after 20 years of asking and being asked this question myself (Dose it work on a Mac) many, many thousands of times, this is the first reversal of the question I have seen or heard of from a Windows user asking if it "Works on Windows?" And the answer is No. Excuse me while I pinch myself.

Caveat Emptor! avoid Intego virusbarrier

Oh and reinstall VBX4 after the A&I and see if it still plays up. But test it on another computer first - Any thing will run it just about. - And no it shoudnt interrupt work flow unless you want it to. - It usually hums along in the back ground and you do forget its there just like it should be.

Caveat Emptor! avoid Intego virusbarrier

Some thing is not right here - I would suggest there are other "issues" in play - I run over 100 seats of VBX4 on every model of Mac made in the last 6 years and I haven't seen this particular issue - Plenty of other issues that require VBX4 to be reinstalled now and then on the odd computer but not this one - VBX4 actually has improved a lot over the last…

Bad Software Policy -- I am upgrading to Timbukto

You are absolutely right - I have looked at Timbuktu and it just doesn't cut it price wise - Once you get in to more than 10 computers the price comparison becomes laughable - ARD is actually very reasonable priced in my opinion - Its just the perception that is the problem here - The clients don't understand that ARD could be twice as much and be a bargain as it saves thousands of dollars…

Great Utility

I don’t think you understand the insidiousness of the 2 activation limit - This is what happened to me - I bought Safari Extender - the next week I installed some RAM and a new hard drive to the computer and it stopped working - I emailed the developer for another activation 2 weeks later he replied and gave me another activation - Later that month I installed a new Graphics card and it stopped…

applejack stalled on disk permissions repair

I manage over 100 computers and use AJ on 80% of them - I have seen this stalling issue on dozens of them only on 1.4.2 - To exit when this happens just hit Control and C you will go back to the input prompt and just type reboot or restart and continue - Much better than a force reboot.
