very helpful! especially if you know a little apple script. the only thing that could make this better would be allowing the custom info to be entered in a dialog box. [alert admin]

Apple iTunes 4.0.1 (Mac OS X)
iTunes 4.0.1 now has proxy support. Without this upgarde, we had so many issues. I work for GE. Their firewall only allows communication through certain ports, in this case 80. We had all our proxy settings set in the Network area of OS X's System Prefs. but Apple apps like iTunes didn't use these settings for some reason. With iTunes 4.0.0 we could still browse the iTunes Music Store through the proxy, we just couldn't buy anything, sign in, or play purchased music that needed to authorize. We also couldn't share playlists. We could see each other's playlists, but when we tried to access them, iTunes times out. iTunes 4.0.1 fixed all thses issues. It's a great upgrade for people behind big firewalls at work. [alert admin]

VLC media player 0.5.3 (Mac OS X)
can play almost any video file. It's a must have for all OSX users. [alert admin]

BitVice MPEG2 Encoder 1.2.52 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
use it at NBC for our DVD production. It blows Cleaner out of the water when it comes to MPG2. Loses 2 stars for having no batch abilities. You have to Transcode files one at a time. [alert admin]

WaveLAN IEEE PC card 6.00.4 (Mac OS 9)
joke. Don't expect them to update this to OSX. For $20 you can get the AeroCard driver which works on any wireless card (even PC only cards). I have the Lucent WaveLAN Gold for my PowerBook and the AeroCard software works great with my Apple Airport. http://www.macsense.com/product/broadband/aerouni_b.html [alert admin]
