Intego VirusBarrier X4 10.4.4 (Mac OS X)

Overpriced and Unnecessary

Not only is Virusbarrier rather expensive at $70, there's a $30 yearly fee...after the first year, for virus definition updates (they once were free, then Intego started charging $20 yearly for them and then upped the price to $30. Greedy, no?). True, you can continue using it without purchasing the updates, but I'd rather use the free and excellent ClamX which continually updates virus definitions. Been using it for several year now, since I stopped using Intego's Virusbarrier because of their virus definition update fees. Anyway, how many big, bad, nasty Mac viruses are lurking out there? Well, actually none. Some proof of concepts but no active ones. And if one eventually does appear, ClamX will let me know if it's infected my Mac's OS. And think of all the money I've saved by not purchasing the overpriced Virusbarrier....and its yearly virus definition fees. [alert admin]

SRS iWOW 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Reinstalling iWOW Version 1.9.1....NOT!

The version 2 download does contain a method for reinstalling version 1.9, however it does NOT work. After uninstalling v2 by using the Uninstall script included with the v2 download, you are taken to the v1.9.1 download, which you open on your desktop. When you click on the "install" tab, a message window appears which states, "You cannot continue. There is nothing to install". It appears to be a bug in the v1.9.1 reinstall process. I've emailed SRS Labs about it but have gotten no reply. [alert admin]

TinkerTool System 1.72 (Mac OS X)

A Superb Maintenance App From A True Master Of His Craft

I've been using Tinkertool System regularly for well over a year and a half and have NEVER experienced a problem with it. It just works smoothly and wonderfully, time after time. It's been totally problem free. It's got a wealth of extremely useful features, some of which are not found elsewhere. Marcel Bresink, TinkerTool System's developer, really knows what he's doing....and it shows. TinkerTool System is as good as a full featured maintenance app gets. I've contacted him on a couple of occasions with queries, and he has been responsive and most helpful each time. A truly stellar offering from a master. TinkerTool System is well worth its very modest cost. It's one of the finest system maintenance apps out there. [alert admin]

Startup Chime Stopper 2.5 (Mac OS X)

What a RIP OFF!!!

A simple little app to mute your startup chime for €15 ($20)?? LOL! If you buy this then you are definitely a SUCKER! There's, for example, the FREE and excellent "Psst", which I've been using for the past few years. I'd say that AlphaOmegaSoftware SUCKS. All their simple apps are grossly overpriced and are essentially copies of other developers ideas. A most lackluster and uninspiring company that's totally devoid of imagination. [alert admin]

SoftSkies 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Boring....Boring.....Yawwnnn.....zzzzzzzzzzz.......

Well, most of the features ARE crippled in the trial version, but from what I could see it's basically a big YAWWWNNNN.......and dreadfully overpriced at $30, even at $20. Not much goin' on here, so I trashed it and went on my merry way. There's no way that I'd buy it, just no way! While Soundpectrum's G-Force IS a tour de force, SoftSkies is a dud....just a wet turd sittin' there on the sidewalk. Sigh............ [alert admin]

Lotto Sorcerer X 6.7 (Mac OS X)

Overpriced and Worthless....For Suckers Only

I challenge ANYONE to provide any evidence whatsoever that Lotto Sorcerer really does give the user ANY advantage in choosing winning numbers. Has the developer, himself, won big money using his baby? Has anyone? Out of all the suckers who have purchased Lotto Sorcerer, who HAS actually won anything substantial? This app is nothing but a slickly packaged piece of poop! But, then, as P.T. Barnum was said to have uttered, "There's a sucker born every minute....and two to take 'em". [alert admin]

NetShade 3.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Absolutely NO Customer Support!

I purchased a license weeks ago but haven't received it. I emailed the developer several times about it but never got a reply. From what I can determine, the developer almost NEVER replies to customer inquiries, for any reason. Many folks have reported getting no replies to their queries; he, apparently, absolutely detests providing customer support. Oh, he'll take your money all right, but then, in effect, spits in your face. He's got an office in the San Jose, California area but his telephone number there just rings and rings without being answered, at least when I've tried to 'phone him. Think twice or three times before purchasing any software from him. [alert admin]

Overpriced and Unnecessary

I originally purchased a previous version of Virusbarrier a number of years ago, but stopped using it when Intego started charging for virus definition updates. I did not purchase the newer version.
