Viou 2.8.1 (Mac OS X)
"(The size of the Viou archive is due to the numerous models provided.)" Using 7zip on the uncompressed DMG leaves just 4.3MB. The provided ZIP-archive is more than 3 times as big ... [alert admin]

StuffIt Deluxe 11.0.2 (Mac OS X)
... with StuffIt Deluxe is essentially positive. I never had any problems. It's the only compressor I know of, that can compress JPEGs by 25%-30% without further loss i.e. the expanded files are bit-identical. I also appreciate the feature to be able to add redundancy to my important archives. So I can still access and backup my data when the cd/dvd containing the archive has got read errors. If compression ratio is the only concern and it is not a bunch of JPEGs, I use 7zip. But 7zip does not care for resource forks. StuffIt does. Tip: If you want to compress a .dmg using StuffIt/7zip/whatever, convert it to read only (=uncompressed) with Disk Utility first. The result is significantly smaller. [alert admin]

StuffIt Deluxe 10.0 (Mac OS X)
Lossless compression of jpegs is great! I had to see it myself to believe it: ~ 20% were squeezed out of my photos. Btw. I had no problems installing StuffIt Deluxe. Everything works fine under Mac OS X 10.4.2. [alert admin]

Didn't you test this before spending money for it? For me it worked without problems. So you had a stability issue and rated that bad - that's ok. But does this mean the app has no features, no support (you said the developer was responsive), is not easy to use and far overpriced?

Why do you give a bad rating for not finding the e-mail address which I found twice in the readme and in the About window. Or did I misunderstand you?

Check the md5 fingerprint of the original and the reconstructed file. sitx doesn't change the quantized DCT coefficients of the jpeg encoding but undoes the lossless huffman encoding of these coefficients and applies its own more efficient algorithm.
