Apple Final Cut Pro 2.0.2 (Mac OS 9)
play realtime, speed changes should also preview realtime, rendering should be in the background, sequence settings should be auto configured based on footage being used, should be applescriptable, should be able to mix codecs without rendering, should be able to export movies with quicktime tracks, etc etc, but I believe all of this is coming in future versions, all in all, it's the best desktop editor. ProTools Free 5.0.1 (Mac OS 9)
editor for film and video. Shame it don't handle 24bit 48k without third party card, but 16bit 44k is fine if you know what you're doing, I get great results every time. Apple should bundle it with Final Cut Pro. [alert admin]

nScript 4.0 (Mac OS 9)
first screenplay and have bought nScript 4 because it's compatible with my favorite wordprossor, NisusWriter, and it does everything I want. My style though isn't as standard as this package is geared to, that's my only (minor) gripe. For the money, it's the best option, together with the power of Nisus you can't do better. I've learnt how to use the draft mode, which isn't difficult, and it makes writing a breeze. [alert admin]
