Microsoft Office 2008 12.1.1 (Mac OS X)

Not bad

Installed with no problems on my Mac Book Pro - 10.5.3. Opening applications, specially Entourage, is still slow. Otherwise not a bad update. [alert admin]

Apple iChat AV 4.0 (Mac OS X)

Buddies ??!!

I'm using iChat 4.0.2 (Leopard) on my MacBook Pro, and cannot add any buddies to my AIM Buddy list. It says "AIM error, your buddy list is full" !! Strange, I don't have anyone in my Buddy list ! Has anyone else experienced this ? Any suggestions if someone knows what's going on ?? I would appreciate it. [alert admin]

Apple Airport Extreme Update 2008-001 (Mac OS X)

So far so good

Just installed it in my MacPro running 10.4.11. New Airport Extreme Station. Restarted and things are about the same. Connection seems a bit better and stronger. Will know more after running it for a few days, but so far no major problems. [alert admin]

Apple Logic Studio 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Getting there......

This is a good package. For the price you get a lot, including Logic Pro8, Mainstage etc....and most of the Jam Packs, even Extreme Digital+HipHop packs from the EMagic days. I'm used to Logic Pro 7, but I like the new interface, with the keyboard assignments, it's easy to get around. Midi editing is easier, as well as other things. However, there are a few things I noticed, like handling audio files. Different file formats have to be converted to new format, using up more file (disk) space. When I opened up an older Logic song (back then I had a digi001 using Direct I/O), there was no way to switch the track to Core Audio, as I could before in Logic Pro 7. I had to open up new tracks and convert the data, then deleting the old track. Quite annoying ! The whole window greyed out on me once, but not frozen. I had to quit Logic and start again, then everything seems fine. I'm sure Apple will fix these "bugs" in future updates. Generally I like this, and it's really a nice major upgrade. I think the newer look and features, ease of use together with the fact that it's less expensive than older Logic Pros, will get quite a few people to switch from other DAWs. Keep up the good work ! Apple keyboard update 1.1 (Mac OS X)

Small problem

The new Apple Keyboard looks and feel great, but even after this update I cannot get F17, F18 and F19 to work ! I cannot assign my own apps (or whatever) to these keys ! Anyone else experiencing similar problems ? How do you get them to work ?? The other F keys work nicely. [alert admin]

PhotoPresenter 3.0 (Mac OS X)

NICE !

Very nice slide shows. And not expensive ! I've noticed that the animated slide shows take up quite a lot of proccessor power so a fast Mac is recommended. It has good options and for sure a fun way to present your photos. [alert admin]

GraphicConverter X 6.0 (Mac OS X)

Very nice !

I agree that this is well worth the upgrade price, considering what it can do. I've used GC for years and it has become one of my best apps. I don't mind that the interface is the same, and booting it up looks and acts the same as v.5xx. I'm used to that and in a way, it's good for me. I new icon would have been nice, but other than that, I'm very happy with it. Highly recommended. [alert admin]

Figured it out

Delete Input Managers (SafariPlus) in the home folder, and my Safari 2.0.4 stops quitting. Everything seems fine, so far. [alert admin]

What version is this?

This is v.6.1. After installation, the info says v.6.0.4, but when you boot it up, it'll be v. 6.1. I'm running 10.5.2.

Apple is the new Microsoft

Hey guys, just cool it a bit, OK ? I love iTunes and Quicktime. I use it everyday, and it's free ! Great. All I'm saying is that Apple has been known to release updates that actually mess up some people's computers, whether it's incompatibility with other software, or whatever. This happens mostly in Quictime. but at least they usually release another update to "fix" the problem. I…

Apple is the new Microsoft

No, I'm just saying that they should make the software a bit more compatible before they release the software, on issues that they know already.

Apple is the new Microsoft

Well, I'm not sure I'll go that far - by saying Apple is the new MS. But I agree that I liked Apple better in the "older" days before iPods, iTV, iPhones etc..... They were making computers and software that works, without an update every week or two to fix compatibility issues. I've always use Macs, but since they've gotten big, I don't know....quite different.

Safari quits !

Try deleting Imput managers from home folder, and get rid of Safari Plus and other Safari add-ons, if you have them. This worked for me. Safari now works good. Hope this solves your problem.

PPC-only?

Sure it's possible !! Adobe is doing it. Yes, recently you can try out the beta version but it's still not out !! So is MS with their Office. There are still a lot of pros doing audio/video using PPC. Intel still has some time to go before everything works properly.
