OmniGrowl 1.1 (Mac OS X)
Unlike the poster below, my copy of OmniGrowl installed without a hitch, and things are mostly working. The iCal notifications have a formatting problem, though -- the icon obscures the text -- and for some reason I can't make the news notifications "sticky," so they disappear before they can be read. So I think this still needs a bit of work, but there's lots of cool potential here. [alert admin]

CuteClips 2.00 (Mac OS X)
I really liked version 1.1, and 2.0 brings significant improvements that keep this as my favorite clipboard app. The new version is noticeably faster for me, and I really like the added options for managing the clips -- including simple text editing of clips, and the ease of making a particular clip "sticky," so you can retain it in the app. All in all, a great job! iSquint 0.6 (Mac OS X)
This little program is a bit limited in options, but it does exactly what it says ... and does it easily and well. The converted files look fine on my iPod, and iSquint has successfully converted everything I've tried on it so far -- including some AVI files that ffmpeg and Forty-two were unable to convert into an iTunes readable format. Congratulations to the author, and thanks for this eminently useful bit of software! [alert admin]

Delicious Library 1.5 (Mac OS X)
I'm pretty disappointed with 1.5, actually ... neither the Dashboard Widget nor the Spotlight integration are working for me, even after trashing preferences and caches, and reinstalling the software from scratch. Clearly, the Delicious folks need to do some more-thorough testing prior to issuing a release. :( [alert admin]

Freecell 2.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I'm very happy to see a well-implemented freeware Mac version of one of the most addictive card games ever. The program is stable and works great. Here are two quick suggestions for version 2.1 (or later): 1. The game window would look a bit better, I think, if it were a little less crowded ... and it would play easier if there were a visual space between the left four spots on the top row (where cards can be temporarily stored) and the right four spots where the aces go. 2. I know this is was complicated, but it would be great to have a transparent background and animated card movement, like in the program Solitaire XL. :) [alert admin]

WeatherMenu 3.6.5 (Mac OS X)
When this little app works, it's very close to perfect -- easy to use, accurate, and detailed. But for some users, at least, the program regularly hangs after a period of use, hogging all available processor time until you're forced to use Activity Monitor to terminate the app. The developer has apparently been aware of this issue for months ... and no fix appears to be imminent, or even promised. Calendar X 10.2.1 (Mac OS X)
Gone over to the Dark Side ...
It saddens me that you guys have apparently consumed several extra-large doses of Microsoft-flavored kool-aid over the past year or so. The fact that your website now expresses such scorn for many aspects of the Mac experience ... well, it's enough to make me think twice before considering amy of your software. [alert admin]

SafariSpeed 1.0.21 (Mac OS X)
I'm impressed! For me, at least, this little hack noticeably increased Safari's perceived speed ... bringing it almost up to a par with the ultra-fast Shiira. A definite, definite improvement. [alert admin]

XMenu 1.1 (Mac OS X)
This is a wonderful little utility ... fast, easy, and logical. One request: how about letting us customize or choose menu bar icons? I'm not a big fan of the icons introduced in 1.1. [alert admin]

Weather Desk 1.0a (Mac OS X)
So far, I like this little program a lot. Easy to set up, nice UI ... very well thought-out, all in all. It's on my menu bar, and I'm looking forward to subsequent updates. [alert admin]

Personally, I love the program's little moments of irreverence. It's wonderful to have software that not only works beautifully, but also makes me smile.

Thanks for the suggestions. I gave it a try, and unfortunately it didn't help at all. Out of intellectual curiosity, I also did a fresh install of the software on my laptop (which hadn't previously contained the software), created a new database with a few CDs, and tried Spotlight. Nothing. :(
