I found FaxCenter while looking for a replacement for the limited fax capability built into Mac OS X. I'm glad I did. This is a close-to-perfect example of great Mac shareware -- it's simple, elegant, and gets the job done well. It took me a while to get it set up -- I should have read the docs first, as you really do have to make sure that the BSD subsystem is installed -- but if you follow the directions it's easy. My favorite feature is the ability to combine multiple documents into one fax. The abilities to customize the cover sheet and to send quick notes straight from the program are great too. The bottom line is that I like it well enough to pay for it: I just sent in my $10 to the author. Give it a go, I think you'll like it too. [alert admin]

Timidity++ 2.11.3r2 (Mac OS X)
This might not be obvious... The program will only recognize files with the proper filename extensions, even if they are proper MOD/S3M/whatever files. [alert admin]

Timidity++ 2.11.3r1 (Mac OS X)
This isn't obvious, and it's not noted in the installation instructions (at least not that I noticed): The software is installed in "/usr/local/bin". Otherwise, incredible product. Converted a large collection in a flash with "/usr/local/bin/timidity *". [alert admin]

PDF Browser Plugin 2.0 (Mac OS X)
I had been using version 1.2.3 before, and it worked well -- but version 2 is even better! Does what it claims to do quickly and with a gorgeous interface. Thanks Schubert it! [alert admin]

FoldersSynchronizer 3.3.3 (Mac OS X)
This is an indespensible program. I was a little skeptical at first, since you're only allowed to synchronize 40 files at a time before registering, and the price seemed a little steep. However, using this even just one time to synchronize a collection of nearly 2000 files in several levels of nested folders convinced me that it was well worth the price... It would have taken hours by hand, but this little utility did it in seconds. Slick interface. [alert admin]
