iTunesLyricsLocator 2.0.4 (Mac OS X)

More Info About Product Needed on Webpage or App

Great, free, simple little cross-platform app that seems to do its job. But I do wish the developer would provide a little more information about the job it's doing, either on a webpage, in documentation or in the app. I can confirm that the app relies upon (only) LyricWiki.org for processing lyrics (it says in the window that appears before processing). But I don't know, even after testing, what the app does with files that already have lyrics--does it replace the lyrics? Also, while it's clear what metadata the app pulls from files to retrieve lyrics, it's not clear how perfect a match the app requires to insert lyrics. This is pretty vital information. httpmail plugin 1.47a (Mac OS X)

Hallelujah!

Figured out what was causing my Mail freezes. I was using this plugin in conjunction with MailPriority. One uses bundles compatibility version 1 and the other version 2. Neither caused any issues by itself, but together they seemed to lock up Mail... [alert admin]

pearLyrics 0.5 (Mac OS X)

Great Design!

When it works, it's awesome! (and free) Unfortunately, it's not 100% successful in finding lyrics, even where Google's first hit contains the correct lyrics (more lyrics databases should probably be added). Another minor bug: it appears that "." (period) is removed when searching. So the band "Controller.Controller" gets searched as "ControllerController", generating no results. [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.3.1 (Mac OS X)

Safari 1.3 site issues

Having crashing issues with some sites with 2.3.1 (e.g. Dealmac.com). Seem to have isolated the source as PithHelmet... [alert admin]

DeliciTunes 0.1 (Mac OS X)

Promising interim solution...

The import worked for me without error. I tried a second error and got a rather intimidating message about overwriting the last file... not sufficiently clear. Might be handy, ultimately, especially if it obviates the need for Delicious Library to retrieve the same data again. [alert admin]

pdf-Recover Professional 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Other Adobe Products will Do Same

If you import a locked PDF into Illustrator (probably into Photoshop too), Illustrator ignores the permissions flag when you reexport. So if you have the Adobe CS, you probably don't need this. [alert admin]

PithHelmet 2.2 (Mac OS X)

Outstanding!!!

My two complaints from previous versions were that it sometimes seemed to slow page loading (partly defeating the purpose) and that it wouldn't seem to block flash ads. Blammo! It blazes and no flash! I suspect I'm only seeing a fraction of the power of this puppy (it looks like you might need a PhD in CompSci to master the filters), but it works beautifully on its defaults! [alert admin]

Linksys Wireless-G Broadband Router 2.04.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Killed My Wireless Signal Too

On my Airport (non-Extreme) ibook, from 20 feet, also through drywall, I have gone from about 80% using AP Grapher to a signal fluctuating in the 40s. With my G5 next to it with Extreme, I've gone from 45% to being unable to connect to the network (which almost certainly means it's dropped below 30%). I STRONGLY discourage using this update. iEatBrainz 1.05 (Mac OS X)

Brilliant!

Can't recommend this program highly enough. It's easy to use, does what no other app does (but should have long ago), and the author is terrific about replying to bug reports. Indispensable. [alert admin]

Dungeon Siege 1.1.2 (Mac OS X)

Random (?) Lock-ups

My computer, a 1.8DP G5 with the basic nVidia video card, locks up after about 30 minutes of game-play. I haven't been able to ascertain whether it happens at *exactly* 30 minutes, so is related to auto-saving or something of the sort. It doesn't bring the machine down, but I can't force-quit, so I effectively have to reboot. Most annoying. [alert admin]
