Clone X 3.3 (Mac OS X)

Repair Disk

So far I just tried Clone X3's function to burn a bootable DVD with one's choice of repair applications. The interface is attractive and easy to use. The disk image created is best burnt with Disk Utility as Clone X can sometimes fail at this last stage. I added the following applications; Disk Utility, Clone X. Carbon Copy Cloner, Drive Genius, Diskwarrior and TechTool Pro 5. The dvd booted o.k. taking the expected long time. All apps showed in their launcher window. When I tried them the following happened: Disk Utilty - worked fine, as did CCC and Clone X. Drive Genius needs to be V2.2.1 with "Enable animated user interface " switched off. The last tip was provided by the fast and helpful support from Clone X. Worked well with repair, permissions repair, rebuild and defrag. TechToolPro 5 opened but did not respond. Diskwarrior (not the latest version) gave an error message. I hope Clone X developers will look into this as they cant help at this time. But its great to have such a useful boot disk that works on my two desktops and MacBook Pro (all Intel) [alert admin]

Stock Menulet 4 (Mac OS X)

Great little application

The latest version of Stock Menulet now has everything I need to display the stock price I want to see in the menu bar with an ability to view other stocks and indices, plus an option to rotate the display and alter font sizes. Great little application at the right price. The developer responded quickly to suggestions to improve it. [alert admin]

PrintMagic 5.0 (Mac OS X)

Works well

Does what it says. An elegant piece of software that makes printing selected text and pics easy. Good to have a date stamp and URL added to the print out. Thanks. [alert admin]

CheckUp 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Nice Application but ...

Great graphics, useful info, warnings and tests. Price is stated at $29 On Version Tracker but its actually in Euros thus much more expensive. I could not get a refund of the extra AU$ Clicking on memory test gives an immediate restart without any warning! Scrolling halfway down the pref panes info causes the application to freeze. Otherwise I like it. [alert admin]

iStock 1.3 (Mac OS X)

Great Sofware

I am delighted to find a program that easily creates share portfolios that provides the most needed data and showing percentage total changes with graphical performance charts over various time periods. Easy to set up with an elegant interface. [alert admin]

Mail Act-On 1.3.2 (Mac OS X)

Thanks!

After 17 years with Eudora I took the plunge and set up Apple's Mail programme. I have over 100 mailboxes. To my horror I found I could not filter my messages after I read them to the appropriate mailbox. The Rules function would transfer them BUT before I could read them. Did not fancy searching through over a 100 mailboxes to find what is new mail! Using the "Act-On: a |" function before each rule allows with a press of control-a to sort them correctly AFTER I have read them. Why did Apple not provide this function? I have just happily sent my PayPal donation off. Thanks for saving me much time. Michael [alert admin]

SkyFighters 1918 wMB 0.7.5 (Mac OS X)

A real fun flight sim

Having flown Don's 1945 sim this was easy to set up and fly with my 3D joystick. I enjoyed the slower pace, the nice graphics and sound effects. Above all it was fun to fly with lots of missions. Great flight sim. [alert admin]
