Papers 1.9.1 (Mac OS X)
I really really like what papers could be. But as it stands it is just tooooo slow. I've tried to use it for nearly a year now, going to the forum for help, changing my databases, removing smart queries etc. etc. etc. but it is still so slow that I only use it as a batch processing program to rename my pdf files now. I think this is such a shame as it could (and I hope will in the near future) be a great program. [alert admin]

EagleFiler 1.2.7 (Mac OS X)
Eaglefiler is a really nice app. Handles most types of data and is incredibly easy to get data into it - just press F1. I've setup project folders that allow me to include related email messages (easily imported) along with documents and data that I collect along the way. All of this is easily searchable. I'm a user of DEVONThink Pro Office as well. While DTPO is a great program with some very sophisticated analytical tools, I find the lack of ease of importing data and the slightly cumbersome UI stops me using it as much as I would like. Now I'm using EF as it's very mac, imports very easily and handles just about all the data types I need. It also stores the files in a normal directory structure, so the files are still available for spotlight or DTPO if you wanted to index it. Very nice. [alert admin]

Web Snapper 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Can't believe it doesn't work on Leopard. I used to use it all the time. It was great. Don't like the idea of this standalone version. Really hope Tasty Apps sort it out! [alert admin]

Great program even with 2 column pdfs ![]()

This is just a great program. I've been using it for a while and was happy except slight frustration with highlighting 2 column documents. After reading the feature requests, I've found a workaround for 2 column documents that might be obvious to others, but I didn't realise it and has made things much much better for me. What I do now is select the text using multiple highlights (maybe a partial first and last line and the rest using the option select for the column), then I merge the selections using the shift key. This turns the selections into a single selection. This works particularly well in full screen mode when you select highlight as the default tool. Result is an easy to read (in full screen) and quite quick to highlight column text. Great program. I wish I had of realised how to do this column highlight earlier! [alert admin]

MindCad Incubator 2.2 (Mac OS X)
I purchased this program over a year ago. Have tried using it many times, but it is really pretty inflexible, offering little more than a graphical version of a basic outline program. Was really hoping for more & hasn't been updated for a long time. Recently changed to NovaMind and am finding it MUCH more useful. Has much better features and flexability allowing you to actually create proper mind maps, rather than just graphical outlines. Big improvement. Shame about incubator, had quite high hopes for it. Having the same problem. Works fine with drag and drop, but doesn't want to display toolbar button.

sidenote is cool but it ate my notes ![]()

Me too. It's a shame it doesn't seem to save note data regularly, and there's no way to manually click save. So if anything happens to your computer and have to reboot, you lose the notes that you've added. Really like it, but am also looking for another as this drives me up the wall!

Actually - you can easily remove the system wide hotkeys by going into preferences and selecting the hotkeys tab. I had a similar problem with hotkeys clashing with other apps that I use, but easily fixed.
