ILCrashReporter 1.2.3 (Mac OS X)

Very nice

Very nice crash reporting tool. Unlike Unsanity's Smart CrashReporter it doesn't require the user to install anything and unlike Zonic's Bug Reporter, it doesn't require interaction of the user with Mail (and on top of that it's free). The only downside is that, depending on your setup, sending mail directly via the SMTP server of your email address may not work. Fortunately, the source code is included and is written in such a way that it is quite easy to use instead the NSMailDelivery class from Message.framework. It would be nice to have this as a proper option (maybe together with the possibility of calling a cgi script instead), rather than having to tweak the source code... [alert admin]

Amadeus II 3.8.2 (Mac OS X)

Crashing problems

I would like to follow-up the problems several people reported with version 3.8.1. There was indeed a bug in the versionchecking routine that would crash the program if it checks for a new version and www.hairersoft.com is unavailable. This unfortunately happened over the Easter week-end. Since both I and the people maintaining the server were on vacation, this problem went unnoticed for three days and affected a substantial number of users.

Version 3.8.2 fixes this bug. An explanation on how versionchecking is implemented in Amadeus can be found at http://www.hairersoft.com/AmadFAQ.html [alert admin]

Amadeus II 3.7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Re: "Better" CoreAudio Support

I am the developer. I haven't personally tested Amadeus with a MOTU board, but several users did and they reported that Amadeus 3.7 recognises the multiple channels correctly. You can select which channel to use by clicking on the "Settings..." button in the "Input" tab of the recording window. [alert admin]

Amadeus II 3.7 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)

Re: What Happened?

satcomer, could you please send an email to Martin@HairerSoft.com explaining what exactly doesn't work anymore? Amadeus should (and does as far as I know) open files from the previous version. Thanks. [alert admin]

Went back to 1.41

Sorry, this was indeed a silly bug introduced in version 1.4.2 that would appear when you record at a sampling rate different from the native rate of you input device. Version 1.4.3 fixes it.

RIAA filters?

It means that the "RIAA Reproduction" and "Inverse RIAA Reproduction" filters are now accessible from the batch processor. These filters allow to compensate for the equalisation usually applied to vinyl recordings. This is useful if you record from a turntable without going through a preamplifier.

Strange behavior

Mystery solved... The version of Amadeus Pro 1.2 that was put on the web on the 16th of November contained a copy of the program mpg123 (the utility used to open Mp3 files) compiled for MacOS 10.5. Unfortunately, it turned out that this copy does not run under MacOS 10.4. I now reverted mpg123 to the copy that was used in previous versions of Amadeus Pro. This should fix the problems that some of you encountered.…

Strange behavior

Could you contact me directly at <Martin@HairerSoft.com> so we can try to find out what's wrong? Also, have you tried trashing the preferences file?

id-tags

Actually there is. The way iTunes adds metadata to AIFF files is to include an 'ID3 ' data chunk which contains metadata as an id3 tag. Amadeus Pro (of which I am the developer) is an example of another application that can read and write metadata from / to AIFF files in this way.

HOG!

If it uses more than 1% while idle, this is a bug and certainly not normal / usual behaviour. If you can reproduce this, please send me detailed instructions on how to do so. If you can't reproduce it but it happens again, it would be very useful to have a snapshot of the state of the application while it hogs the CPU. If you have the developer tools installed, the "Sampler" performance tool can…

The Downloads Will Not Mount

I just tried it and it works fine. Either you have an old operating system (10.4 required) or your download was somehow corrupted). Martin

I used to love it..

I can categorically deny that Amadeus II interferes with any other application on MacOS X. It does not change any system setting (except for the input gain of the current audio device when the user adjusts it) and the only files that it creates are its preference files and some temporary files used for working on the open sounds. All of these files are created in standard locations.

Amadeus does not launch any background process,…
