Islands mini golf 1.4 (Mac OS X)

Demo won't launch on 24 inch Intel Core 2 Duo iMac running Leopard

The 1.4 (?1.4.1) demo will not launch on my core2 duo iMac--you get the screen with register vs try demo options, but selecting try demo just dumps you to a black screen and then back out to OSX. FWIW, I am running Leopard (10.5.1) [alert admin]

Missing Sync for Palm OS 5.1 (Mac OS X)

I take back my criticisms... works great, fantastic tech support

A couple of days ago, I left a very dissatisfied posting about Missing Synch talking about how unreliable it was. As it turns out this was NOT Missing Synch's fault--it appeared to arise from conflicts with previously installed synch apps including Palm Hot Synch and iSynch. I sent an email to Missing Synch tech support and got detailed instructions about how to fix the problem. It took several email exchanges with an extremely helpful guy named Mike Couture who eventually figured out a way to Reset Synch History in iSynch--he eventually had to send me a script that did this by brute force. Now Missing Synch works fine and I can synch my Treo to both of my Macs perfectly. Mike said I should also be able to do intermittent synchs with Palm Desktop by toggling the Palm conduits on/Missing Synch off, doing the synch then restoring Missing Synch On/Palm conduits off. In the end, I decided I didn't really want to bother trying this, but I have no doubt it would work. All in all, Missing Synch works as advertised, has many features (most notably the ability to mount the Palm's expansion card on your Mac's desktop) not present in Palm Desktop and, best of all, comes with ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC TECH SUPPORT--from a real, live human being who actually read my emails and answered the questions I asked, didn't just send me canned answers. I take back all my earlier complaints--in fact, if there's a way for some sysop to delete them, I'd really like to see that happen. I am now a really, really happy camper. Thanks, Mike Couture! Take home message: First of all, heed the advice from others--read and understand the manual before using this product. And, if you run into problems, contact tech support. They'll work with you for as long as it takes to fix the problem, all the while doing so with patience and tact. [alert admin]

Missing Sync for Palm OS 5.1 (Mac OS X)

Reliablitly issues abound

Have encountered significant problems with inconsistent, unreliable synching of contact data between my Treo 650 and an iMac G5 (OSX 10.4.6). Most importantly when I have the Missing Synch contacts conduit set to synchronize, it does not "push" all the contacts from my iMac to the Treo--at least one contact consistently failed to come over. I was eventually able to get that contact to come over from the iMac but only by setting the conduit to replace items on the handheld with items from the desktop. Could this be because I'm synching to/from an iMac and an MBP? One of the things I considered an advantage to Missing Synch was the two explicitly permitted installs, which suggested that I should be able to do a three-way synch--two desktop machines, on Treo. Is that not the case? Secondly, it seems to me that if I turn Missing Synch contacts and event conduits off temporarily and instead turn on the Palm Desktop conduits for these items, I should be able to update my Palm Desktop (which I still kind of like as a PIM). But, even though it SAYS it is synching, no update actually happens. Finally, if I try to synch a second time without restarting/logging out of my Mac, nothing happens. This means that if I update my address book after a synch, I must reboot (or at least log out and back in) before I can do another synch. Surely this can't be the way it is supposed to work--or is it? One other thing to note: I was surprised to see that Missing Synch does not have a PIM display module. So while synching with Palm Desktop is disabled, there is no substitute provided, forcing me to rely solely on the Mac's Address Book and iCal. I would have prefered a single unified calendar and address book. I was especially disappointed to find that I could not manually force Missing Synch to update contacts and events in Palm Desktop by temporarily toggling Missing Synch conduits for these off and instead toggling Palm Desktop conduits on.
