Adium X 0.59 (Mac OS X)
Beautiful AIM client... except for this version ![]()

I have been using Adium since the first 1.0 versions came out. When iChat made it's debut, sadly, I abandoned the Adium bandwagon for the Apple one. However when I started finally seeing the Adium 2.0 betas that had been promised without delivery for so long, I readopted the program with joy (iChat had become slow and buggy and error-prone). I have had wonderful, flawless experience with Adium since these first new generation Adium betas started showing up. Unfortunately, version 0.59 ended the string of perfect and anticipated weekly (or thereabout) updates. I'm not sure if it's just me because it seems everyone else here has had an okay time moving to the 0.59 version, however when I upgraded, Adium began crashing every minute or so, seemingly randomly. Sometimes I wouldn't even be in the program when it would crash. Of course I submitted the bug reports, and I am looking forward to the next version (0.6 or whatever it may be), but for now, I'm sticking to the rock solid version 0.58.1. Woo go Adium! I have faith in thee still! :) [alert admin]

Splocker 1.0b2 (Mac OS X)
This program doesn't just block spam web addresses that come up, but rather it blocks *any* web address that anyone might send to you. So if my friend I have been talking to for, say, 20 minutes wants me to go to a website, it will get filtered out. [alert admin]

Logorrhea 1.2 (Mac OS X)
I haven't used any of the previous versions of this app, however when I downloaded and opened it just now, and tried to export a chat, it hung. The save dialog comes up, but it is blank and I can't click on the Cancel or Save button. And no, there is nothing wrong with my system because the save dialog works fine in other applications. iChatExporter 0.45 (Mac OS X)
iChatExporter (fortunately) is still completely compatible with the new iChat AV just recently released by Apple. There are no upgrades or any changes needed to keep it working just as it did in the previous version of iChat. [alert admin]

Apple iChat AV 2.0 (Mac OS X)
Doesn't work with menu, disconnects on quit
This is a wonderful update to an already wonderful chat client! Now I just wish that iChat would communicate correctly with the iChat menu, and that iChat wouldn't disconnect me from AIM when I quit it, even though in the preferences it set it to leave me connected when I quit. [alert admin]

iCAR 0.2 (Mac OS X)
This is an awesome piece of work by Pigmy software! I use it all the time now, and even after just a few days, I already can't see myself without it. I can finally leave an away message up and leave my computer, and know other people will actually see it when they IM me! I used to just sign off when I went away because people would always IM me. I am also looking forward to working with Adrian on improving iCAR for its 1.0 release. It's already great and has a lot of potential for the future. Bravo! [alert admin]

Safari CAN do it normally, along with the rest of the system (under Panther). Just turn on Smooth Scrolling in your system prefs.

We are aware of this bug, and are working on it right now. iChat AV is a complete overhaul for the system, so we basically have to go back into it and re-learn the new system. Could pose quite a challenge. :-)

This is why you set your away message in iChat and then choose to use your status message as your auto-reply in iCAR preferences. Also, make sure that the option is check to only send auto-replies when you are away.

This is one of the features lacking in iChat that many users have complained about. As of now, there is no way for any iChat user to actually create their own profile. Even viewing AIM and AOL users' profiles is next to impossible to do in iChat. Hopefully Apple will fix this in iChat 2 with Panther.

What do you mean by "screen space"? You don't have to keep the options window open while you are using iChat, if that's what you mean. Just a suggestion. :-)
