PrinterSetup 0036 (Mac OS X)
Funny for me to find out I'm a fictitious character. If you must know, I did have 700 macs under my belt, spread out in 8 buildings in a 100 square mile grid. I say did because I've recently upgraded my employment status :-) As for no company in the USA trusting 700 macs to one person, I wouldn't know since I'm canadian. The Developer mentions clearly that this is a scripting solution for System Administrators and unix savvy users. You mention that this is not for the average Joe and his printer, wow, you're quick! Since when would a home user need to implement scripted printer deployment?!?! So please start taking your medication again, and leave this thread to actual IT guys who use this product instead of bashing a nice FREE product. As far as your warning to stay away from anything that modifies CUPS, I actually agree with you 100%, that is a bad can of worms to open. But since this product IN NO WAY does that, it is you who make my point. Anyone who is looking at giving this a try, you can play with this without any risk to your system's integrity, this will only generate pref and config files and won't mess with the CUPS plumbing.
