StuffIt Expander 13.0 (Mac OS X)
Talk about a Byzantine downloading processā¦
Stuffit is at the end of its life cycle. So, the company is collecting e-mail addresses to market their other existing and new products. Clever, but annoying.
"A bunch of mindless jerks who'll be the first up against the wall when the revolution comes."

NYTimes 1.3 (iPhone)
I love the NYT, and this application makes access simple and informative. Unfortunately, it crashes nearly every time it's used. Reading an article, one scrolls, and BOOM! Frustrating isn't the word! I've tried every method to "fix" this problem at my end, but the answer is for the programmer to fix the application. Also, it would help if the application featured the ability to e-mail articles. Firefox 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Version 3.0.1 does nothing to correct the poor rendering of simple XHTML. Maybe Gecko 1.9 that's the culprit. I mean, Firefox should be able correctly display a break inside an unordered list, for cryin' out loud. Every other browser does. [alert admin]

Firefox 3.0 (Mac OS X)
Firefox 3 would be a great upgrade if the Gecko 1.9 engine rendered simple HTML correctly. Sometimes Firefox doesn't even recognize simple breaks (<br />). Other browsers, including Firefox 2, have no problems displaying XHTML or HTML, a basic necessity for any browser. No amount of GUI can excuse fundamental flaws. [alert admin]

Times Reader 1.0b1 (Mac OS X)
The installer asks to download Silverlight. Silverlight for Macs? First, why? Second, how? Why is this application listed for Macs if it can't be installed? Am I missing some conspicuous step? [alert admin]

Flock 1.1.1 (Mac OS X)
Functions well. Designed by those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder for those with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It's like watching CNN: you don't know where to look or when. Why do they put all those simultaneously visible elements into Flock? Because they can--I suppose. So much for the virtues of negative space. [alert admin]

BusySync 2.0b6 (Mac OS X)
Why are we paying for the honor of beta testing BusySync? We're doing the developer a favor. They should be paying us. [alert admin]

Grammarian PRO X 1.8.1b6 (Mac OS X)
"You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do."
Henry Ford once said, "You can't build a reputation on what you are going to do."
I like Grammarian and use it often. I know grammar checkers give false positives much of the time, but Grammarian has saved my tushie from stupid mistakes more often then not. It's leagues ahead of MS Word.
However, Grammarian is technically weak.
- It confuses some applications.
- It's slow to launch.
- It uses more memory than it should.
- It works unpredictably in interactive mode.
- Bugs are slow to be fixed, if ever.
And these comments are about previous releases. Installing a beta is a terrifying prospect. Nonetheless, I'll keep using my current version non-interactively, wait for future full releases, back up my hard drive, and give 1.8 a try.

I used this widget for a month while traveling in the Middle East (don't ask) with great results. I was able to access my home and mobile voicemail without any problems. Their Tech Support made using their services straightforward; It was AT&T that was a pain in the tushie.
Sure! They try to get you to use their paid services. After all, this is America.

Macally ICEKey 1.0 (Mac OS X)

Once you install this driver and boot into Terminal, no command can be typed without producing a string of repeating letters ad infinitum. Several years seems longer than necessary to fix this problem. More important, why should we need a driver for the Macally ICEKey? Macally's inexpensive iKeySlim works properly right out of the box. Why not the same for the ICEKey? Too bad: the ICEKey is a beautiful keyboard. [alert admin]

Are you using any third-party plugins? If so, remove them. I've had no problems with the latest version of Safari.

I appreciate your suggestions and have done each. Unfortunately, nothing has helped, including reinstalling a fresh OS 10.4x. And it was their Tech Support who suggested reformatting my Blackberry 7290.

I've noticed a few CSS bugs in 2.0, too. It's best to report such to <http://www.mozilla.org/support/firefox/bugs>. Good technical and detailed feedback like yours is ineffectual in this forum. Mozilla depends on your information. Thanks.

Chiasm,
You are the customer. You deserve an explanation as to why your e-mail addresses don't display, a technical explanation. Pointing a finger at Apple is an old game used to hide an application deficiencies, as in, "It's a poor workman who blames his tools."
