Elmer 6.0.0 (Mac OS X)
In general this software is helpful for practicing for an exam although it still has room for some improvement. In particular I'd hope a little more work would be put into making the figures more readable. Currently they are low-res scans zoomed. But considering this is a piece of software that as far as I can tell is unique to fulfill this need on the Mac, it's going to be worth it in peace of mind in passing the real test for many people. It should be used in conjuction with a book on the subject. I'll probably purchase it in preparation for getting my Extra. KC9AYH. [alert admin]

This has embarassing interface problems that affect functionality such as fields that don't resize with the window, crashes when pressing buttons with nothing selected. This stuff takes only 5 minutes to fix but hasn't been in 5 releases in almost a week. I gave the author a list of 13 problems to fix. I don't think he fixed one. Version notes are not readily available so I don't know. As for functionality, be prepared for lots of bounces and in 5 days even more when the mail times out. I'm not sure how this is better than SpamCop which is free. I did better than both of these when I simply tracked the sending IP number to the ISP and contacted the ISP myself by phone. At least I wasn't sending complaints to spoofed addresses. If this were a demo, I doubt it would sell. I bought it after seeing reviews on other Mac sites that said it worked and admitted it "would not win an award for interface". [alert admin]

Master Key 3.0.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
MK follows the HIG better than any other typing software I know of. it has been thoroughly reviewed by a 3rd party for HIG compliance. It does break with HIG in a few ways that are not obvious to most users and in other ways because of the genre it is. Alot gets done with specific suggestions so feel free to tell us what you think. Volume Logic 1.0.1 (Mac OS X)
I run a part15 AM station playing Old-time Radio. I get out to at least 600 households. Everything runs off my 900MHz B&W G3 including 105GB of shows, programming by in-hosue software and playing in iTunes. Volume Logic provides an excellent value for processing this varied audio whereas hardware that is worth anything usually costs thousands. [alert admin]

Eudora 6.0.1 (Mac OS X)
Using 5.2 to solve 5.2.1 slow problem in Panther
I had 5.2.1 when I installed Panther and I had to move to 6 since 5.2.1 was unusably slow. I was annoyed that I would have to pay a 4th time for a Eudora to fix this problem while adding features I wouldn't use. Version 6 was slower to launch and even had one-second delays in accessing the menus on a dual-gig. I keep old copies of Eudora so I tried going back to 5.2 and the speed improved dramatically, and I'm back in paid mode. If you can find a copy of 5.2, use it. [alert admin]

Nicecast 1.0b1 (Mac OS X)
I was already running a part 15 AM transmitter on iTunes programmed by an in-house program that controls iTunes via AppleScript. This is perfect since it mirrors exactly what I already labored on with iTunes playback. This is a perfect blending of Mac ease and Unix power. A very nice showing for a beta. Up and running in less than a minute. Would like to see this publish info such as number of listeners and slots and what's currently playing to a web page. [alert admin]

Master Key 2.3 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
to turn off text smooting for font sizes 10 and smaller or less in the General pane of System Preferences. If it is set to 12, the text drawing is not scaled properly. So much for my perfect score ;) [alert admin]

Morse Mania 2.3.4 (Mac OS 9)
help you learn morse code and it runs in OS X. Negatives: Aesthetically poorly done. Functionally it is marginally usable but locks up it's own interface at times. It's too expensive for what it is. I can't understand the five star ratings. KC9AYH [alert admin]

First report of the problem was here. Problem was fixed in version 1.1. Furthermore, triple-segue is now automatically supported in 1.2. The 3rd player is automatically used for lengths that are less than 2 overlaps. It will play 1 second time announces fluidly. Time announce support from the scheduler is coming later. The scheduler has been beta for a couple weeks and the Basic functionality will continue to be free once final.

I haven't heard of a problem like this for the past 5 betas. Never would have released something like that if I knew about it and still I tried to reproduce it but I can't. Maybe you can help me reproduce it. I tried many 3 second loops, tried the overlap even higher than the track lengths. Here's a movie of 3 second tracks playing. http://macinmind.com/RadiologikDJ3sec.mov
