Bookends 8.0 (Mac OS X)

Good! Excellent! Splendid!

A great application that has been improved a lot. I can give you all an advice: download it, try it and buy it. If you really need a tool for bibliography and reference management, this application will probably do it for you. I doubt that you will ever be disappointed. I myself have been using Bookend for over a year now, and it has helped me a lot with the bibliography and references management while writing academic papers at the university. [alert admin]

GRASS 6.0.0b1 (Mac OS X)

Wrong download URL?

It seems to be the wrong URL in the "download" button. The right address ought to be http://www.public.asu.edu/~cmbarton/files/grass_osx/GRASS_600_beta1.dmg [alert admin]

ClamXav 0.9.0f (Mac OS X)

At last a decent antivirus app…

This application is worthy to be downloaded and installed. I have installed on all our MacOSX equipped Macs and I found two PC viruses in the e-mails of my wife. I hope that the next update will bring the feature to erase and delete (or whatever) any detected virus in the e-mail application and that clamXav also will be able to scan for virus while downloading e-mails (until now not even Virex can handle that without messing the mailbox). iBlog 1.3.7 (Mac OS X)

It's a great improvement…

…on the prevoius version, even if it's only a 0.0.1 step forward. Now the product starts to be recommendable. [alert admin]

Spell Catcher X 10.1 (Mac OS X)

Great product

I have been using Spell Catcher for some weeks now, and I am very satisfied with it. Recommend it to all who cares about how to spell and using the right words (as a dictionary of synonyms) while writing on their computer. [alert admin]

Nisus Writer Express 1.1.1a (Mac OS X)

Nisus has to work harder...

I believe that since Mellel released their latest version 1.7, Nisus Writer Express has to fasten up their development. Otherwise they will, unfortunately, be run over by this highly developed competitor. The Nisus team seem to have the desire to develop a great successor to their old Nisus Writer, but sometimes I doubt they have the ability to do so in a reasonable time? My suggestion is this, that they should provide us with maintenance updates (1.1.1a..) every second week and a new version (1.2..) every month. Then the confidence would be restored and their customers would see that Nisus really mean to accomplish the task of developing a true successor to the old Nisus Writer. [alert admin]

Try Sente

It's good with competition, and Sente is a good competitor, but IMHO it still has a far way to go to match Bookend, especially if you are using other word processors than the MS Word (e.g. Mellel or Nisus Writer Express).

Cocoa or carbon?

As far as I can tell, NWE and Mellel are both genuin cocoa. On the contrary to MS Word and Mariner Writer which are both carbon applications.
