Don't go there GURLfriend! 1.1 (Mac OS X)
This is the first truly critical security flaw in OS X
Whatever. There have been local/remote attacks allowing users to gain root access to OS X. That is far more dangerous than an applescript exploit. Apple fixed it quick enough. Get a clue, man. [alert admin]

Proteus 4.0b2 (Mac OS X)
For some reason the program refuses to allow more than 400 contacts in a single group. When breaching the limit it opens a single window for each name I attempt to move - this was great fun when I tried to move 50+ contacts into the main list. Furthermore in my attempts to organize my contacts I've lost an additional dozen contacts for what seems to be no reason whatsoever. *sighs* Lucky I have a system back-up to fall back on even if my back-up isn't up to date. Proteus 4.0b2 (Mac OS X)
It destroys user settings for v 3.0. So once you try this out you are stuck with it. This is a trend that is constantly displayed among new versions of Proteus. The developer should take a clue from OmniGroup and use separate preferences for separate versions. The new list view is horrendous and I desperately searched for a way to configure the app to revert to it's old user list view which was 200 percent more efficient in terms of vertical space used. My contact list is missing some 150 users. No way around that, no way to know who i lost. It destroys old groups and lumps users into seemingly random categories. Attempts to reorganize the damage done to my groups is slow and arduous. Text input happens at a snail's pace. Yeah it's beta software but FFS it is the worst beta software I've ever used. Apple Mac OS X 10.3.2 (Mac OS X)
I love Apple. I've loved Apple for 20 years. Even though the Apple has changed colors I still bleed in seven. That being said I've had more problems lately than ever. 10.3 screwed a few of my drives (needed third party software to make them useable and NO they weren't firewire drives). In addition my 2,500 dollar Apple branded LCD refused to startup several times after 10.3.2. Also my networking has gone haywire. I've lost DNS (still had it on a machine behind my box which serves as the router so it wasn't my connection) - tried with multiple accounts - only a reboot seemed to fix the problem. I thought I was having the same issue on my other box a few hours later but instead it was still my box - file sharing refused to start and while connection sharing said it started a quick close and opening of the system preferences would show it as off. Again a restart fixed the problems. Each of these problems has only manifested itself once but if you have an older system upgraded over time - you might want to be careful. Of course YMMV and you should ALWAYS backup before upgrading/updating. For Reference - minor problems all solved by a reboot but please this isn't OS9. I shouldn't have to reboot my computer to make it run properly. Okay, okay so it's probably just me and my ancient system that has followed me from DP3 up to 10.3 but still ... :( [alert admin]

Guys - DeskEffects was a 10.2 product. I've done no testing on 10.3/Panther and list 10.2 an an explicit requirement. I may update it at some point if I can find the time. I'm sorry for any troubles you've had with Panther and DeskEffects. [alert admin]

This update is complete #@$#@$#@$. Totally hosed my system and given the sounds now emanating from my box could possibly be damaging my hardware. Reboots take up to fifteen minutes - random crashes with cocoa apps and a mysterious grinding noise from my system. As noted by many others there are SEVERE problems with this security update so be forewarned. I am reinstalling 10.2 and working my way up through the upgrades. This is the first major software problem I've had with OS X and is probably due to something I did but others might want to be very wary with this update. [alert admin]

Quake III Arena X 1.3.2t5 (Mac OS X)
There is a nasty bit of static on various maps in the the Urban Terror mod that render this otherwise exceptional update useless for a lot of people. I've emailed ID and so have others - so let's hope they get it figured out soon. [alert admin]

I've never seen more whining in my life.
I bought a Titanium Powerbook and the day after they updated the graphics chip to 32 megs. Sure I was upset but jesus I didn't cry like a baby. Technology progresses and usually the new software isn't compatible with older hardware. I really don't see what's so new that the old iPods can't support but yall really need to quit whining.
