Apple Safari 3.0b (Mac OS X)

Use with care...

Safari for Windows does not work with a lot of German websites (eBay.de, zdf.de and others) and so appears unusable. Luckily, it won't install on my Mac OS X 10.4.8, so I have had no problems with it. Give it another two months to improve! [alert admin]

International users..

...cannot use this software anymore because Pandora is not available to non-US citizens any longer. Too bad! [alert admin]

MailTags 2.0b7 (Mac OS X)

Breaks mail.app

I had a rather unpleasant test drive with MailTag, becuase it messed up my mail.app entirely. After installing (and even after uninstalling) MailTag it was impossible to choose what mail account to use for outgoing mail. Deleting the preference file and entering all personal information again finally rescued me. One hour wasted for this piece of software! [alert admin]

NeoOffice 2.0 Aqua Beta 3 (Mac OS X)

The wait has an end...

OpenOffice.org for Mac OS X - without X11. This is what NeoOffice really is. Now with its Aqua buttons and the increased speed and stability I don't see any need to wait for another office suite. Well, admittedly, WordPerfect would be nice, too. But then again, this one's for free! Better hurry and get your copy now... [alert admin]

ButtonGadget2 2.0 (Mac OS X)

Interesting...

...BUT this piece of software is a clear example of poor porting to Mac OS X. In the Windows world this might be a nice little app, on Mac OS X it sucks: it is way too complicated, is not intuitive at all, and some features (f.e. the capture image feature) simply do not work as they should. What I like about ButtonGadget is the SmartStretch feature where you delete parts of the button (f.e. to get rid of the original text), to eventually add a new text. The price is rather hefty, I would say. For Mac OS X people might want to try ButtonBuilder instead... [alert admin]

Guest PC 1.9.6 (Mac OS X)

First kernel panic in 2006

After updating to GuestPC 1.9.6 I had two kernel panics in a row - the first in 2006 and even in years! What's going wrong here? Apart from that, speed has decreased since version 1.5, no Intel version has been announced yet, and the fullscreen mode is still anything but convincing. I would say, this software needs some major makeover... [alert admin]

iTunes Catalog 2.1 (Mac OS X)

Play music?

Does anyone know how to get this neat little application to actually PLAY the displayed music title in a website? Whenever I clickt the titles, I only get a pale Quicktime logo but no music is played. This could be or perhaps is the ultimate solution for musicians to present their demo music to the public. But as I say, I cannot get it to work... [alert admin]

Safari Enhancer 3.3 (Mac OS X)

Why?

Why can't Apple include most of these features in Safari already? F.e. having to use Google as a built-in search engine is definitely unaccepatble. Safari should allow for much more customizing without additional tools. Until then, great tool - good work! [alert admin]
