ShapeShifter 1.0 (Mac OS X)
This really is the dawn of a new era, and I'm very impressed. The choice of worthy themes is still limited, but all in good time, my friends. We have to see this as the starting point. Shapeshifter will give rise to a whole new generation of theme-makers, but first they're going to have to learn how to use ThemePark.
Aqua is fine, but I think those of us who made the switch to OS X early are already quite bored of it. It was, perhaps, a little bit too trendy a choice and some of it already looks dated. It's going to be exciting to see the alternatives we're offered over the next year.
Yes, I said year. We musn't rush the artists. It's a lot of hard work making an entire theme from scratch, and most people will have to work it around school or work and even, for the lucky few, social lives.
I'm by no means an expert, but I've never had any trouble with Unsanity's products and if they say this is safe, then I trust them. One thing's for sure, it's ging to be a lot safer than its predecessors!

Measles 2.2 (Mac OS X)
This is beautiful, stable and configuarable enough to waste a large chunk of your working day.
On paper, it sounds like more of that shoddy, unoriginal, disk space wasting, high-school-project freeware that we've all learned to avoid. But this is so much more than that. With a little imagination and some serious programming, StickSoftware have (yet again) recycled an old idea and created something new and completely in a league of its own.
Unusually, there aren't any nag screens or disabled features in unregistered copies (which, alone, is surely reason enough to register) but, if you like it and can afford to make some sort of donation, please don't forget to pay - I want to see more from StickSoftware, don't you?

But there's nothing wrong with that. Probably best for those of us who remember the golden days of computing... [alert admin]

I'm not going to get into the piracy argument, but I know that without file sharing to whet my appetite, I wouldn't buy much music. [alert admin]
