Inquisitor 3.2 (v62) (Mac OS X)

Pure Unmitigated Junk

What you want it function properly? Forget it! What you want the developer to at least post issues in his useless blog? Forget it! Useless software...useless developer. Really, you are seriously wasting your time loading this crap onto your Mac, and then having to find all the pieces to it when you dump it. [alert admin]

iVolume 3.5 (Mac OS X)

Version Jump from 3.1.5 to 3.5?

Seems to be the trend today with the advent of Snow Leopard that developers' are jumping their version numbers several notches. First, it was Path Finder (5.1.6 to 5.5.0) and now iVolume. I guess they want to get to the upgrade paths quicker that usual? [alert admin]

Smart Scroll 3.1.3 (Mac OS X)

Will NOT Run under Snow Leopard because of APE

Unfortunately, this great little--that is dependent on APE--will not run under Snow Leopard. Unsanity will forever take their time to even get something near to running on Snow Leopard so you can kiss Smart Scroll goodbye. it was geat while it lasted, as I loved Smart Scroll. R.I.P. [alert admin]

NewsFire 1.6 (v81) (Mac OS X)

NetNewsWire

Sporadic development meaning the developer gets around to revisions on his own sweet time. The latest removed more features that it added. NetNewsWire is vastly superior is every way. [alert admin]

Smart Scroll 3.0b2 (Mac OS X)

APE/Snow Leopard = Good Luck!

Yes, Snow Leopard is almost here. Unsanity has ceased answering email, providing support, and any revisions to their haxies. Leopard proved that Unsanity was incapable of meeting any deadlines and users were forced to wait how long to get working version? (see blogs, search Google) Snow Leopard has the potential of again turning Unsanity's APE on its ear. Apple disregards any crash logs, and will render you no help, if they see APE in the log. Smart Scroll is a great haxie, but it needs to abandon APE, like other smart developers have done, to move forward and avoid the Unsanity trap. In order words, cease being a haxie. [alert admin]

TextExpander 2.6 (Mac OS X)

Has Never Worked Properly

I have been a licensed TextExpander user for years now, and it has never worked correctly, although I keep upgrading, but will not the next go around. I have since added Typinator to my collection and Typinator always works correctly. [alert admin]

Smart Scroll 3.0b1 (Mac OS X)

Unsanity's APE Dependent = BAD

Unfortunately, this version of Smart Scroll is still reliant upon Unsanity's APE. Unsanity supplies zero support, and Apple will not help you if they read a crash report that includes APE as part it. Snow Leopard is here shortly, and the problems with APE will begin again. With no support from Unsanity, I cannot see Smart Scroll being existent much longer. Too bad, as this is a great little app.

Unsanity = Unpredictable, Unreliable, and Unsupported [alert admin]

Growl 1.1.4 (Mac OS X)

Needs to Become Shareware for Better Support

I love Growl, but like others in the freeware category it lags (significantly at times) in keeping current with the Mac OS, or other issues that can make using it miserable. I wish they would simply make it shareware whereby we could expect more support. [alert admin]

Not the Same Features or App Abilities

I have a license to both Smart Scroll and SteerMouse, and yes SteerMouse does provide a level of scrolling tailoring, but nothing remotely near the features of Smart Scroll. SteerMouse is what I use for the extra buttons on my mouse, and Smart Scroll is what I use regarding scrolling abilities—I recommend both apps!

Stop the Whining!

Yes, I have—when it pertains to developers who provide so little and have adopted the "annual fee" based software use because they upgrade software without rectifying current software issues (e.g., Chronos is notorious for this, and even states this). This is not the case in PT's situation. Also, when you cannot get matters to works properly and have a client who is demanding printouts, PT will save you every time!

Stop the Whining!

You cannot compare Apple's OS with this as Apple is a major corporation selling computers requiring their OS. Apple's new OS pricing structure is a result of wanting to further capture market share. If you want the additional software—like Print Therapy—that make using Apple great then you have to support the small developers. Print Therapy has more than paid for itself in my case, and once you become a licensed user the upgrade fees are…

Once you establish a license, the upgrades are not costly. Default Folder has saved me sooooooooooo much time, and I have had a license since its beginning.

Jarlaxle.merc is Correct

Tinderbox is way behind the times regarding the utilization of what Leopard has to offer, and Snow Leopard will have to offer. I suspect this is owed to two reasons: 1) Porting Tinderbox over to Windoze thereby allocating valuable time to the Windoze platform versus the Mac. 2) The developer is holding Tinderbox too near and dear versus allowing others to develop it. Unfortunately, this is a niche market application and until more enter it then Tinderbox will…
