Saft 12.0.0 Public Beta 4 (Mac OS X)
This version crashes on launch ![]()

I rely on Saft for two things principally: controlling where I wish to have a new tab open, and creating a special download folder each day. Now, then, this Public 4 beta version repeatedly crash instantly upon opening. I copied the gibberish (to me) in the crash notification and e-mailed to the developer. I have faith they'll get this done. Snow Leopard did put an end to input managers, and lots of developers of system tweaks are scratching their heads trying things to get their particular tweaks working through some other route. I rate Saft very high because of tradition, but his particular beta is problematical. [alert admin]

I do not know what features those who complain are trying to use. For me, I primarily simply wanted a multi-colored time and date utility for the menu bar; anything else is a dividend on the primary purpose. For my uses, it works flawlessly. The other use for it is a count-down timer, and that feature is fine. The multiple time-zone times works fine. Customizing the appearance of stuff works fine. Those who get all upset should do us and the developer the favor of describing what they are trying to do when they encounter their problem. I did not comment on the support/documentation aspect as I've not had to use them and can't speak to them. [alert admin]

Safari 4.0 release does not like VideoBox ![]()

Safari 4.0 crashes immediately at launch with VideoBox installed, and after Safari is running VideoBox, VideoBox 2.0 and 2.8.4 both crash on launch. A real problem there. So much, for the time being, collecting political and other speeches with video. 1 Password also vanished, but I have yet to try to install it again. Other than that, Safari 4.0 is very fast and I really like it. [alert admin]

Apple Safari 4.0b (Mac OS X)
Clicking the bookmark button (that little book image on the left end of the bookmark bar) gave me a blank white page. There was no way to get at the bookmarks all at once to modify them or even to look at them. That's not acceptable. I do use Saft, which did not load, and use Safari Block which did load. I disabled it, but the bookmarks did not appear no matter what I tried. I could use the Bookmark menu item to go anywhere I wished one by one, but could not see them all, all at once. [alert admin]

"I don't understand. Mac solutions - Apple's Backup/Mac.com/Time Machine ALL do the same thing free or the cost of a hard drive. " Because it's off-site. When the house or office burns down, the back up didn't burn down with it.
