BitWise IM 1.7.3 (Mac OS X)

first choice for cross-platform chat encryption

I was looking for a cross-platform encrypted chat program, and bitwise is certainly first choice here. Everything works well, including unicode, voice and the whiteboard (which I like much). Logging in with multiple identities at the same time is also a very nice feature. I have a few suggestions/wishlist for improvements though, mostly cosmetics: 1. the user-interface could be a bit nicer and easier to use. 2. in preferences, an error message will be raised when no folder for chat logs eg is set. It should be an alert or something else, an "error" is too dramatic and makes one feel as if something went wrong 3. one should be able to add nicknames to buddies 4. the away settings are handled in an extra window, that's not really necessary I think. A status line in the main window would be sufficient 5. it would be nice if one could also set a custom status when one is not idle 6. when someone sends a link in chat it should be clickable 7. there should be support for emoticons - I know, this is really not essential, but still many people love using them 8. there doesn't seem to be growl integration 9. esp. for the Mac, access via a menu bar item would be nice 10. I'm missing a button for toggling invisibility [alert admin]

Skim 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)

excellent

I've been using skim for quite some time now and I'm perfectly happy with it. It replaces preview for me completely. Here are some suggestions, though, which I personally would like to see: 1. it would be nice to have some preference settings which opens all documents with some default zoom 2. Something like the Safari history menu item would be great (with items 'earlier today','yesterday' etc) - probably very helpful for those who work with lots of pdfs every day 3. When I'm working with many documents opened at the same time, it would be nice to have tabs, and some hotkeys to jump between tabs/windows Please continue the excellent work! [alert admin]

VitaminSEE 0.7.1 (Mac OS X)

almost perfect

I'm watching the development of this program since the early versions and think you're doing a great job! I use the program for going through my image database, but actually I never upgraded from v0.6 for the following reason: In v0.6, when one descends into a subdirectory and goes back, the focus stays on the folder, in which one descended. But in later versions the focus jumps to the first folder again. So, when going through a file system tree one always has to remember the previous folder and look for it again in the list. Maybe you could restore the old behavior? I'd also love to have shortcuts for file system nagivation (e.g. go to next folder in parent directory etc). Anyway, thanks for writing a great image browser! [alert admin]

VitaminSEE 0.5.3 (Mac OS X)

very good

I like the program very much. For further development I suggest some features, which I personally would really like to see. First, there should also be a fullscreen mode. Second, a simple slideshow for all or selected images in a folder would be great. Third, the thumbs on the left should be scalable and should arrange 'intelligently', so that one can get a good overview over lots of images, if desired. Forth, the shortcuts to Finder and Preview are a great idea, but this should be extended with custom shortcuts to other applications (like image manipulation apps etc). [alert admin]

very good

> Scaling down under 128x128 would be easy, and that should be in v0.6, so that if you make the file-selector smaller, the thumbnails get smaller. Maybe the size of the thumbnails should not depend on the size of the window. Rather (or in addition) think about introducing a control which can change the size (like in Finder's Show View Option dialog). The thumbnails should also arrange themselves in multiple columns when space is availabe.
