Widget Maker X 1.2 (Mac OS X)

Feedback

Please let me know anything that you would like to see added to Widget Maker by email (web@lajdesignsw.com). Most of the features that I add are from user requests. When creating Widget Maker, I wanted to get to a point where I could quickly make Widgets (mainly using the wizard). I think that I have made it to that point. [alert admin]

This is fixed in the next version (to be posted tomorrow).

Asking for Admin passwords is a no-no!

You are right, I need to remove the admin password request. With the orginal design I was modifying the widgeting in the root widget folder (which does require the admin password). Now it just modifies the user's widgets (which does not require the root password). I will make sure it is removed, ASAP.

limited function IDE is too expensive

Marty, Any time I release a program that is going to take too much bandwidth or time, I release it as shareware. It is just to compensate for my time and bandwidth. I, like everyone else, am busy with a family (3 small children and wife), a day job, and working on finishing my MBA. Working on Widget Maker took development time from my other programs, which I do make money off. I am sure that…

this'll teach me!

As the developer I took a look at Wcode today and the two both use an IDE format and toolbars, but so do alot of other programs. Since Wcode does not actually allow you to try it (asks to buy first), I did not get to try out the features. Widget Maker also has a widget manager and a Widget wizard built in. As well as an online tutorial. So while they are a like…

this'll teach me!

Honestly I am not sure what the other program does (I will see if I can take a look though). I took a look at where widget maker was orginally and decided to go with an IDE format and the widget manager (actually had another developer suggest going to a graphical format). I decided it needed to be able to open apple widgets, 3rd party widgets, and also developer widget examples. Even then it still…

Prefer WidgetFactor

This is some good feedback. I was wondering what else to add. I have a few more ideas now. The next beta will make quite a few changes.

is not working for me

It is now fixed. The problem was that I had the finder set to show extensions and you did not. I changed it so that it does not matter now. Anyways you can download it from the link and get the latest. I will update versiontracker in the morning.
