AP Grapher 1.2.1 (Mac OS X)
This application was a life saver for me when I had to troubleshoot placement of my PowerBook G4 to pick up a very tenuous WiFi signal. Saw one crash since updating to a MBP, but overall it still works great. The developer has "retired" according to his blog, though, so don't expect updates. [alert admin]

Baby Safe II 2.1.6 (Mac OS X)
offers much more than AlphaBaby ![]()

AlphaBaby is a nice little program, and its price is right, but the shapes and sounds it uses are very simple, and did not hold my toddler's interest for long. BabySafe offers a much richer experience: - letters and numbers the child hits on the keyboard are displayed on the screen and spoken with charming sampled childrens' voices - photographic images of people, animals, and objects of interest to toddlers are displayed on the screen - if so configured, pictures from your iPhoto library will also be displayed on the screen, as well, a particularly nice feature BabySafe II has been stable for me, and my daughter loves it. I like to use it as a learning tool, naming the pictures displayed or (now that she's older) asking her to name them. My only complaints would be: - it can run sluggishly on my PowerBook G3/400, getting far behind on processing keystrokes, and making me wait to exit the protected mode - it is certainly not impossible that a toddler will at random type one of the many supported words for exiting the protected mode - at times it can be too compelling; I can't get my computer back! RBrowser 2.9.7.2 (Mac OS X)
awesome. The SSH/SCP file browser is unique as far as I know. It allows me to get access to files on UNIX hosts behind my company's firewall and edit them in BBEdit or other app of my choice. Kudos to the author, who has proven very responsive to both bug reports and feature requests. [alert admin]

F-Secure SSH Client 2.1 (Mac OS 9)
forwarding works well, easy to use - FTP forwarding feature (unique AFAIK) is invaluable Cons - expensive - uninspired terminal emulator - no SSH1 support - sometimes hangs, particularly on older Macs - runs in classic under OS X, but doesn't forward non-classic traffic [alert admin]

wonderful terminal emulator- stable, easy to use, and efficient. If only all terminal programs had the "duplicate selection" option under the edit menu! The SSH1 support is great, and SCP is invaluable though a bit tricky. The only minuses are the missing features: - RSA key generation - port forwarding - SSH2 support [alert admin]

dataComet-Secure 5.0.5 (Mac OS 9)
but I found the interface clunky and difficult. Lack of DSA key authentication limits the usefulness of the SSH2 support. I will stick with NiftyTelnet SSH. [alert admin]
