Virtual ][ 3.4.1 (Mac OS X)
Sheesh. Like, I don't need to think very hard...
"Besides the retro-cool factor. Why do people use or need this? I'm not bashing. I'm curious. So come on...I want stories."
Uh, hello.... are you kidding me? Ok everybody, repeat after me: Kareteka! Kick ass... :) Logicat (and I'm being very sarcastic. There are sure to be many different reasons for the Virtual ][. But there's probably no better reason than Karateka. Except, of course, for "The Bilestoad." And, Conan. Sigh....) [alert admin]

Dead Days 1.1 (Mac OS X)
I understand what you're getting at. I just imagine the dev-in-training would benefit greatly even hearing a summary of why it fails. Really. I'm not the person who wrote the app, but I do develop software and general complaints aren't very useful. Specific issues, even two or three major ones, are incredibly helpful. They're all learning. Best regards, Logicat [alert admin]

Dead Days 1.1 (Mac OS X)
uDevGames is a contest where developers and want-to-be developers create and release freeware games. There are not always going to be professionals. Perhaps the reviews should offer constructive criticism rather than all out negative commentary. It would greatly help up-and-coming dev's to understand what people look for in a game, or specifically where their program fell short. Best, Logicat [alert admin]

MidiPipe 0.9.7 (Mac OS X)
AFAIK, there have been two different MIDI note ranges
I've seen these posted as "Yamaha" and "Roland". One of the two was C3 and the other was C4. Can anyone corroborate this information? Great app BTW. Best, Logicat [alert admin]

Absynth 2.0.5.001 (Mac OS X)
Please note: there really ARE two 2.0.5 updates now available.
Yes, there was a 2.0.5 update for Absynth released on 5/12/04. However, there's now a follow-up, called the "Absynth 2.0.5 AU Hotfix", which was released on 5/21/04. I use Absynth and had really terrible buffer clicks when running 2.0.5. The AU Hotfix has solved my problems. FYI, here's the ReadMe:
Recommended to all ABSYNTH Mac OS X users. This version requires ABSYNTH 2.05.
This update is recommended for all Absynth 2 users who use the Audio Units interface. It fixes Buffer bug in Absynth 2.05 [alert admin]

ScheduleWorld 1.3.9 (Mac OS X)
Is anyone else concerned with exactly "WHO" ScheduleWorld represents? A company in Ottowa with a 555-1212 phone number, no information about the developers, no names at all??? Please don't call me an alarmist, but I say proceed with caution. They emphasize repeatedly that this software is free, based on open-standards, and that your data is "Safe". How safe when I don't even know who the folks who're hosting my information are? [alert admin]

Live 3.0.4 (Mac OS 9, Mac OS X)
Live uses MIDI, but not to create sound
This is a clarification of Goobs comment about Live and MIDI. Live does use MIDI but almost exclusively to automate the Mixer and Effects. In truth there is one very specific case where you can use Live to trigger a sample using a MIDI keyboard, but it's no substitute for even the most rudimentary software sampler. Reason, on the other hand, uses MIDI not only for automation but also to trigger sounds in the synths, sampler and drum machines. If you're considering a purchase of Live and aren't sure if it will serve your needs, do yourself a favor and download the free Read Comments (1) | More Info
